This review is from: INTERNATIONAL VOLTAGE CONVERTER. 220V to 110V 1600 Watt. Use US appliances overseas (Electronics)
I am an electrician working overseas and when I seen this item I assumed it would be bigger.I bought a 500 watt converter that weighs about 7 pound the same time I bought this one which weighs about 9 ounces.I wonder how can this this have a wattage output of up to 1600 watts when it so small.Maybe the wire gauge size is extremly small. After testing this with a meter I seen I could only get an output of around 160 watts continuously not 1600 watts.Someone must have added a zero by mistake.DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE ADVERTISEMENT!!

Does not work for more than 3 minutes,

I connected a cordless phone to this device on my trip to Europe and it exploded!
I'm still waiting for a communication from the customer service from the seller (it is not Amazon directly). The product documentation clearly states that is is suitable for up to 13 amperes, but the cordles phone only consumes 0.2. I don't know if my cordless phone is ruined, but I would say that from the smell it has now :(

i guess you are not really an electrician...,

This is really a voltage chopper not a transformer. It basically chops the voltage from 220v to 100v unlike a tranformer that via coils converts 220v to 100v. Note that both do not convert the cycles 60hz to 50hz which can cause issues with motors.
