I bought this Intex 1500 GPH above ground pool filter pump and I must say, it works better than the one that actually came with the pool.

So far this pump has worked very well and is still working thus far.

I bought this to replace the crappy pump that comes with the Intex 15' x 48" pool. This is a great upgrade, it has a timer, easier to use, and much more power. The hoses have shut offs to keep you from getting soaked while changing filters. For smaller pools you will need the adapters to hook it to your pool. Get them from the Intex site, much better and cheaper than what I have seen on here. I hooked it to a salt water system and it works great. Be sure to order the filters in bulk on here, it takes the size A filters.

i hooked this pump up to a 12 foot pool and turned over water in a fraction of the time as the cheapo pump that came with the pool packaged deal. still uses A type filters (easy and cheap to get) and set the timer for minimum (2 hours) and it got the job done. pump is rated for larger pools but such a tremendous step up from those small, wanna be pumps that come with the package deal. save yourself some hassle, extra labor and money and buy a good pump ahead of time and save the play pump for a back up (hopefully never needed). pump is fairly quiet when running, timer actually works, and i've been operating daily since purchase with no problems. i still have to figure out my ROI (electricity use + filters) but the outcome of the pool being W-A-Y cleaner - no comparison!!...that alone makes it worth it to me.

10/1/11 - time to put pool away for the year and happy to report good ROI as the efficiency saved me approx. $9/month. i could figure this out because i have one of the new digital electric meters and i get a monthly usage report which shows daily electricity use hour by hour and since i have the timer set, which will always stay the same unless you unplug the pump or change the timer, it was easy to compare the usage. also, the A type filters purchased in a 6 pack from Amazon are durable enough to wash out and soak in a mild bleach solution and sun dry so that they can be used at least twice and sometimes 3 times, so if i had purchased earlier in the season, it would have paid itself off in one season, but as it were, will pay itself off definitely next year, and again, pool stays way cleaner, less sediment to vacuum and i found that i needed to use l/ss chlorine, so really, if i were to factor that cost in, maybe it really did pay for itself in one season.

This pump is great...for about 2 months. Yeah, that's right! Not even a full season. You wanna know why? The impeller bushing wears out and then the pump doesn't pump anymore. It's probably only a $.39 item, but it renders the whole unit completely useless! Then, if you're the mechanically inclined type, you can't even get the replacement part from the company. You can buy every other stupid part that will never wear out, but the bushing, which keeps the rotor from contacting the stator, is not available. HOW STUPID IS THAT?
Not very stupid from a marketing standpoint, because they just want to sell MORE PUMPS that will crap out after two months!
HERE'S MY SUGGESTION...DON'T BUY ANYMORE OF THIS CHINESE CRAP! IF THE INTEX COMPANY WANTS TO SELL THIS DUNG IN THIS COUNTRY, THEY OUGHT TO BACK IT WITH SOME REAL WARRANTY AND PRODUCT SUPPORT!
My name is Dave Kendrick and I live in New Jersey, USA, and I will never buy CHINESE @!!$$$&$ AGAIN!!

I purchased a 15 ft above ground Intek pool. The pump that came with it was ok. I spent as much time cleaning the pool as i did in it. I purchased this pump and it is FANTASTIC!!! Does most of the work for me. GREAT product at a good price.

I love that the shipping was free and it arrived in 2 days half way across the country! I had the pump that came with the pool and after 1 summer it started making noises and was just overall cheap and ineffective. This pump is by far superior. The connections through the pool are so much more stable. The hoses that come with it are stronger, the filter still takes A's which are cheaper. I have a 16x48 pool and the old filter just wasnt enough for this size. I havent installed it yet, but i bought the hose converters and i think ill start with those, they didnt get very good reviews, but they were only a couple dollars. I think when i have some time i will make the holes bigger to take the new intake valves as they are MUCH better than the crappy black rubber thing and plastic connection that comes with the pool.
i will follow up with our orogress, but i was overall very impressed with the much higher quality of this pump!

I've had 2 Intex pools. The first one was a small quick set. I had it for 3 years and went through 3 pumps (the small ones, not this 635T). I got a larger Ultra Frame pool and have used it 2 seasons. The pool is great. Easy set up and take down. The pumps, worthless! If you're lucky your first one will go out just before the 1 year warranty runs out and you'll get a replacement. That's what happened to me. You just have to deal with not having a pump when you need it most. The replacement pump broke the second day after I set the pool up for it's third season. As Sledgehammer stated, the parts are not available so you either buy someone else's pump or get another one of these crappy ones. Your choice. So, 2 different pools, 2 different pumps. 5 pumps in 5 years.
