Book Description

"Fast-paced!" "Action-packed!" "Heart-stopping!"

Love the fast-paced action in The Hunger Games Trilogy?
Want to relive the romance of The Twilight Saga?

This exciting Young Adult series is for you!

"The only three people in the world who I truly loved were my best friend, Ben, my Uncle Spencer and his fiancée, Irene. I am now grateful for what I didn't know on that sunny afternoon. One of them would soon be lost to me. The other two, I was destined to kill without hesitation or remorse.
It wasn't premeditated.
It was what needed to be done.
So I did it."

Success means love. Failure a death sentence.
When seventeen-year-old Oxford student Emily Baxter steps forward to become part of the search and rescue team for her kidnapped family member, she sees it as her last chance to put things right. Despite her seizures and being ripped between parallel universes, Emily is determined to get back to living a normal life. But first Emily has to join forces with the mysterious Gifted & Talented set and the darkly beautiful Henry Seadon. And survive. Killing the Misery-Makers who get in their way is a necessary evil.

This is the first installment (chapters 1-5) of an exciting four-part YA action adventure series, INTO THE DARK SERIES #1-4 by British author, Milly Silver. It's a story of family, love, loss, and being uniquely gifted.

Q&A with Milly Silver

Q: How would you describe INTO THE DARK SERIES #1-4?
M: I'd say the story is an exciting blend of part paranormal romance, part action adventure. There's a little bit of humour thrown in as well. A mix of the romance from The Twilight Saga with the action from The Hunger Games Trilogy.

Q: How does the INTO THE DARK SERIES differ from your other stories?
M: Emily's is a dark coming of age story, exploring identity, being gifted, first love, friendships and loyalty. My next book HOTTER THAN HOT due for release 2013, is more light entertainment and laugh out loud. ;-))

Q: What inspired you to write the INTO THE DARK story?
M: I was really interested in exploring states of consciousness, and how different people outside the mainstream have different gifts that make them unique. I love a good romance (who doesn't?!), so that was a crucial element for me. So I wrote a story that I wanted to read!

Q: Your work has been described as cinematic. Why?
M: I'm passionate about film and am very visual, so that's how I think and write. I see what my characters look like, how a scene looks, and it all flows from there.

Q: You mentioned The Hunger Games Trilogy and The Twilight Saga. How is INTO THE DARK similar?
M: INTO THE DARK has the action adventure element similar to The Hunger Games, combined with the paranormal romance element similar to The Twilight Saga. Fans of those two stories will love the INTO THE DARK SERIES.

Enjoy!

From the Author

Hi everyone!
Thanks for downloading my YA INTO THE DARK SERIES #1-4!!
I hope you enjoy Emily's story.  I wrote this series in 2010 and loved how Emily pushes on despite not knowing how the different pieces of the jigsaw in her life come together. Doesn't life sometimes feel like that for us all?
Of course, Emily has the sexy Henry Seadon to distract her! Lucky her!!
Please help spread the word about my books - Indie authors owe their success to faithful, proactive fans, book bloggers, and reviewers. We LOVE you!! Take a bow.
Happy reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible!!!! February 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I was given this whole series in exchange for an honest review. At first I thought this was just another scifi wanna be story. But now I want to go back and buy this series so this author can get the credit she deserves. It had a great pace, the plot was amazing, and the characters, yea I loved all of them. Emily and Ben, their friendship is unbreakable and it really makes you either think about that friend you have that closeness with or you just wished you had one. Then there's the G&T group that you find in every school there is. The emotional setting here is a whole different level. One minute you are all in love the next to want to claw someone's eyes out. This review will be posted for all for series because each story/series is great. They are totally epic. If you are looking for a book the is a constant pace, full of mystery, adventure, true love, friendship, loyalty to friends and family then her you have it. This is the longest review I've ever given without spoilers. Buy this book. You will not be sorry you did.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing read! March 26, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
*I received this series from the author in exchange for an honest review, via Goodreads*

I really liked this whole series. I was a bit confused in the beginning b/c of the spelling, which were not errors. I really liked the fact that nobody had to be bitten or born as a vampire, witch, werewolf, etc. I was amazed that there wasn't an actual love "triangle" in the classic sense.

I loved the way some of the "major players" were kept under wraps, til the last book. Milly Silver DEFINITELY knows what a cliffhanger should be! I read all 4 books in one night, b/c I was so curious to find out what happened. The power of the human psyche is an amazing thing, as evidenced by Emily's character.

Overall, if you are looking for a fast-paced, easy read, you should check this out.

Recently I was given the opportunity to get my hands on Into the Dark Volumes 1-4 for FREE in return for my honest review. While I came across the opportunity through the Never Too Old For Y.A. Books Group on Goodreads. However, I received the volumes directly from the author herself.

For a FULL Review of ALL FOUR Volumes, please check out my blog She Has A Knack For It (see my profile for a link)

When I started reading this book, I didn't bother to go back and read the description and I didn't remember exactly what it was about, only that the description sounded interesting when I signed up for the Read 4 Review. Let me say this straight off MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL FOUR VOLUMES BEFORE YOU START READING!!!

The beginning of the book manages to suck you right in. You start out learning about what happened three and half years ago. We start out with Emily in someplace very dark and hiding from the Misery-Makers. I think they could be named better, but can't think of something off the top of my head. Anyways, if they get a hold of you they basically torture you very slowly and painfully.

After the incident, we find out that in the real world Emily has blacked-out and had a seizure. Only, she doesn't really black-out when she has a seizure, she really travels to different parallel universe. Sometimes, it's one she has been to before and sometimes not.

I like how the author shows us the differentiates between when Emily is in a parallel universe or in the real world by using a bold font when she is blacked out and regular font for the real world. It helped me keep track of where I was when one of my kids would distract me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great starter!! April 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
What can I say about this book- I really love this story!! Full of excitement and mystery, this is a story that captures the imagination, and takes you on an adventure you almost wish was real.

Emily's ability to time travel to other worlds, while not controllable, is exciting!! Finding new friends, and trying to figure out the mysteries that surround her, makes her a great female-lead character. While the situation may be fantasy, the struggles Emily faces, and the guilt from her past, is relatable, and pulls you into her world and her struggle.

The characters who have been introduced so far are all very interesting, and each make the story exciting in their own ways. Set in modern England, this story is full of rich culture and vivid scenes that make you feel like you're there with Emily. With smart writing and the story flowing quickly, this is a fun quick read that anyone can enjoy. Certainly a book I'd recommend to any YA fan, and any book lover, really.

5.0 out of 5 stars great read April 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I loved this book, from the start it had me hooked. I liked that this was something different from anything I had read. I was intrigued to see what/where the story would take me in regards to Emily's seizures. The pace and description of the characters and places was just right. I loved Henry. I loved Emily's view point of Oxford, I can imagine it is just like that, between the difference of classes.

I read all 4 books in one sitting. The only critique I have is that I would of liked a bit more description on the misery makers. I loved you were kept hanging for the next bit of what would happen when Emily next had a seizure. The sudden appearance of the boy when she had a seizure and his constant appearance afterwards kept me guessing. The Guessing of who the Logician could be was constant and not who I thought it was going to be. I thought the way it all came together at the end with Emily's uncle and Irene and all the G&T going in together was great it had me on the edge of my seat.
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone
