4.0 out of 5 stars Invisio G5 Review, January 10, 2008
This review is from: INVISIO G5 Ultra Compact Bluetooth Wireless Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
As far as Bluetooth headsets go this one is pretty good. I put it in my wish list and recieved it for Christmas. It's got outstanding fit and finish. Very solid. I've had plenty of other Bluetooth headsets in the past and this one for my money (or actually the gift giver's money) is the best easily. My taste in Bluetooth headsets tend to run towards the smaller more discrete ones. This one in that regards has a lot going for it. I particularly liked that it had only one tiny LED on the inside facing side of the headset. Nothing more annoying then giving yourself away with a flashing blue light.

It's fairly comfortable when worn for moderate periods of time (1/2 hour to hour). I do tend to favor these in-ear designs despite the fact that I wouldn't be able to wear it all day, but that's not how I tend to use headsets anyway.

The volume seems to be little lower then I prefer sometimes, but overall call quality for both parties seems adequate.

The best thing about this headset is the fact that it comes with the housing that can be charged and that will charge the headset letter on. It looks kinda like a bigger Zippo lighter. It also kind protects the headset when you're not wearing it. The charger unit uses a mini USB plug to charge and will charge from computer USB ports.

I rated this headset 4 stars because of it's comfort level. When an in-ear headset is engineered with more comfort and yet is still small and discrete then I'll give it 5 stars. Though any potential buyer should realize what they're buying when they buy an in-ear design like this. And while I think this is the cream of the crop for this type of design, I'll be saving 5 stars for that dream in-ear headset that is extremely comfortable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pluses and Minuses, September 19, 2009
This review is from: INVISIO G5 Ultra Compact Bluetooth Wireless Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
The fit is great. Very comfortable, and it will stay put all day. Button design is good. Tiny LED is on the "ear" side, so you're not flashing everyone when in a dark room.

But (you know there would be one) it has 2 problems. First and most important, is the transmission range. It's terrible. Works OK if you're holding the phone in your hand, in front of you, or in the car. But if it's in a pocket, or a belt clip, expect to hear nothing but static. I'm sending mine back, in hope it's just a manufacturing defect. If that's one's as bad, I'm getting my money back. The reception is that bad.

And the second problem is the charging system. There are 5 tiny green LED lights in a line that are supposed to indicate the charging status. But instead of doing something simple, like just using the line of light to show the charge level, there are NINE different blink patterns that you have to interpret to know what's going on. You have to use a diagram in the manual, and then try to find where in the text that a particular patter is explained (and although they're numbered 1 through 9, they're not explained in order. And the same patter can have a different meaning, depending on whether or not the earpiece is in the case (because you can charge the case by itself, then use it to charge the earpiece). It's obvious that they simply wanted the lights to "look cool", rather than to give information.

And, as a tangent to the charging system, is the charging cord. The case uses a standard mini-usb connector. The advantage is that you should be able to charge the case from any usb power source, such as your laptop. But the manual strongly warns against using anything but the supplied wall-wart charger. What's the point of using a standardized power connection, if you're stuck using only one power connection?

4.0 out of 5 stars Great headset - one downside, May 22, 2010
This review is from: INVISIO G5 Ultra Compact Bluetooth Wireless Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Been living with this headset for over a year. Love just about everything about it. The charging box always insures that I won't misplace the ear piece when i remove it from my ear. It also makes sure I don't accidentally wash it by leaving it in my coat or pants pocket. The battery life after a year has deteriorated to about 45 minutes of continuous talk, from about 90 minutes when it was brand new. Also, charging from a laptop mini-USB cable works just fine.
