I wish that INXS would re-release this on DVD!,

If you are a fan, take another look at this. The footage is early in their career, the dialogue is a little hard to hear, but funny. Who knew? The live performances are excellent & the injected bits are so very indicative of Richard Lowenstein's & INXS's personalities (I would imagine)! A great way to spend a nostalgic evening (well 1 1/2 hours of it anyway).

A product of the times. Many video's in the 1980s were mixed in Mono which makes the sound on this sound poor.
However it's a historic view of INXS in their peak before they went way into Pop.

Could have been great - but instead is a bit of a mess,

This is a vhs tape of INXS interviews (some members are interviewed - keyboardist and songwriter Andrew Farriss bizarrely interviews himself) from The Swing and Shabooh Shoobah. The interviews are interesting, but the videos are just snippets. So much for having a full copy of the "To Look at You" video, which I don't think has been featured on any of their other collections. If you are looking to see the music videos only, I'd skip this and buy some other video collection.
Also the video tape copy protection is fully in place, so don't purchase this expecting you can burn it to DVD, unless you have the tech in place to defeat the encoding. If you are interested in the interviews, then go for it. Some highlights: (Basist GG Beers would do something with birds if he weren't a musician) (drummer Jon Farriss is looking to get a Toyota subcompact car with his rockstar earnings) (Andrew Farriss tells the recipe for his favorite sandwich) (Michael Hutchence about how the songwriting process occurs - there's not much more to it that he can explain beyond the lyrics are what they are) (Tim Farriss talks about fishing) (Kirk Pengilly talks about writing, and playing live) |
