5.0 out of 5 stars A great next generation KVM
Granted, this KVM is a bit more pricey than other models I have purchased in the past, but this model has all the features I needed. It handles large resolutions (from DVI-D), audio, and video. 2.0 out of 5 stars Audio problems and Slow switching
I'm using this with a mac and a dell running ubuntu and I've had a lot of problems getting the sound to work consistently. Sometimes if I power off the box it will fix the audio but most time it does not. The switching is also a bit slow.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great next generation KVM, November 30, 2011

This review is from: IOGEAR 4-Port Dual-Link DVI KVMP Pro Switch - Black (GCS1204G) (Personal Computers)
Granted, this KVM is a bit more pricey than other models I have purchased in the past, but this model has all the features I needed. It handles large resolutions (from DVI-D), audio, and video. Additionally, it manages my USB connections very well. However, if one wishes to have one of his or her computers plugged directly into the monitor and by pass the KVM, it will cause problems I believe. It was either that or using a separate USB cable instead of using the KVM cable for connecting another host. Essentially, all the hosts must be connected by the cables for whatever reason, and I'm sure the cables have something to do with it. Also, a typical mistake people make is pressing a button on the KVM for their computer and getting irritated when they can't control the computer, or they do not get a display. Two reasons why this occurs. For one, if one is using Linux, the host needs to be rebooted so that the KVM can scan and obtain the EDIDs. This is because this KVM isn't hot plugging the connection each time like older KVMs, but maintaining an active connection to the host (with the monitor...not the USB based on what I have observed). Secondly, if one simply "presses" the button, that gives "read only" access meaning one can view the screen should a screen saver not be enabled. If one wants to actually use the host, one has to hold the button in for 2 seconds as this enables the USB connection to it. I should also point out that I had issues with my mouse on this model, but I resolved it by plugging my mouse in one of the ports that was USB 2.0 and not the mouse connector on the back. Your mileage may vary, but so far I'm pleased with this KVM.

4.0 out of 5 stars works well. came faster than expected, September 6, 2011

the switch works well and came faster than expected.

the only issue is that on rare occasion, there's a glitch where the caps lock and num lock lights don't come on for one of the computers. when this happens, the keyboard still works but there's a tiny bit of lag when typing. it's easily remedied by unplugging the keyboard and putting it back in
