In this corner: shiny new hdtv, in that corner - the pc desk, already home to hours of fun though hulu, youtube, and your favorite video site. Now how cool would it be to play those on the big screen, from the comfort of the couch? Super freaking cool.

Sadly, the iogear wireless kit will not get you any closer to the dream.

Here is the tale of my installation and eventual return. Best of luck if you buy one anyway. I'm now looking into different hardware.

My systems: PC, older dell XP machine, and new samsung about 12 feet away. Setup was easy, plug in one box by the tv, hookup power and hdmi, and run a cd install on the pc, twist the usb upright and plug in. The usb is a little awkward in a pc, since it will probably overlap other slots, and doesn't reach ports inset by any margin. It seems designed for laptop use.

The next hiccup is the major one though, getting the two sides to talk. In an idea environment (microwave unplugged, no other users of home wifi) the two would occasionally connect, but more often sit in a 'scanning for devices' state. And sometimes after connecting they would connect and disconnect repeatedly. Two things seemed more likely to allow connection: toggling the wireless channel under advanced properties, and disconnecting/reconnecting power on the tv-side box.

So with enough persistance, a signal may hold on long enough to setup a monitor on the PC. Here a combination of issues fight it out for most annoying: Using mirror mode, the TV and PC show the same image. But, unless your computer is using a widescreen resolution, the tv picture won't be usable - and in my case widescreen resolutions on the PC monitor are blurry and unusable.

My Laptop Acer 5100 (AMD Turion(tm)64 X2 Mobile Tech TL-52 Processor,3.00 GB of RAM) maximum video output by the video card is only 1280 x 768 so I was not able to use this adapter full HD Capacity.I don't have a HDMI output for my computer thats why I brought this. The video is lagging , freeze or slow while playing plus sound also break up sometimes. Its is ok if I play a youtube video in small window, the problem happens when I enlarge it into a big window.I placed the adapters within few feet apart but no improvement in quality and occasionally my computer also freeze up.I returned the item back to Amazon.

Simple to set up right from the box. As advertised, it works well for streaming from computer (a laptop in my case) to my HDTV flatscreen. Best results for me by using the extended screen selection, dragging image to the HDTV and maximizing the image. Could not ask for better results.

This will display resolution up to 1080p, if your laptop/desktop cannot display this resolution it will only transmit the maximum of what your system has the capability to. I was able to transmit from a laptop full 1920 x1080. I was also able to transmit at lower resolution with superb clarity. The video/audio quality is great I can watch a YouTube videos fine. The distance this transmits video is nothing less than amazing. I was able to transmit video even through a wall. I highly recommend buying this for anyone looking for a convenient way of transmitting wireless video.
Tip: the wireless receiver connect to the back of the TV, I get better reception when the usb device is connected to the bottom of the dock receiver instead of the top. There are two locations where the usb receiver can be plugged into the dock.

It did transmit from the laptop to the tv but the resolution wasn't that good and to make it better required an adjustment with each new program or source. It's a great idea if it worked as advertised. Did not like it.
