Defective or not properly supported, January 16, 2009
This review is from: IOGear Bluetooth Wireless Tilt Wheel Laser Mouse GME229B (Grey) (Personal Computers)
I returned two of these mice because the forward and backward buttons did not work. I ordered the mouse to use with a MacBook Pro based on the stated Mac support for this product. The mouse paired flawlessly, tracking was excellent, and the scroll wheel functioned well. The mouse is surprisingly light, and it fit very well in my hand.
When I contacted Iogear support to inquire about the forward and backward buttons not functioning, they were very courteous and stated that the mouse is defective and should be returned. So, I exchanged the mouse for another one. Well, the new one had the exact same problem, so I became suspicious that this is a compatability issue. I asked if this was a driver/software issue, and Iogear support reiterated that the mouse is supported on the Mac and that I should again return the mouse for a replacement. I was not going to waste any more time, so I exchanged the mouse for another model altogether. Buyers should note that Iogear has no drivers for this mouse, so there is no ability to customize button functions beyond the most basic options provided by your operating system.

Works great - after you figure out Windows7!, August 29, 2010
This review is from: IOGear Bluetooth Wireless Tilt Wheel Laser Mouse GME229B (Grey) (Personal Computers)
Bought this mouse for my wife's new laptop. I was looking for a feature packed mouse that didn't break the bank. Minimum I was looking for was a laser mouse with tilt-scroll wheel. This one fit the bill with the bonus of having a built-in battery. We'll see how long the built-in battery lasts.
When I first tried to pair the mouse up with the computer I had major problems. It would pair up, work for a bit - maybe as long as 12 hours, but then for some reason it would disconnect. I would turn the mouse off, then back on again and then perhaps only 30% of the time it would re-pair properly. Afterwards, it would have difficulty re-pairing together.
Just to see if it was a mouse problem or computer problem, I tested the mouse with my laptop running Ubuntu. No problems whatsoever!
I was going to blame the problem on the mouse itself, but I did some looking around and it seems like the cause of the "unpairing" was due to Windows7's default setting of the bluetooth driver telling the device to "turn off" to save power. So following that lead, I went into the device settings and sure enough, Windows was set to "turn off this device" to save power. I unchecked that option and ever since, my wife has had no disconnection problems with the mouse!
All the buttons work, including the forward-back buttons. The DPI button setting works great. You have to press and hold this button for about 2-3 seconds before it will activate so it is highly unlikely that you will accidentally change the mouse sensitivity.
The mouse is very light and comes with its on velvet bag and short (~1 ft) mini USB-type charge cable - not long enough to use it to power a "desktop mouse" but just long enough to use if you have a laptop.
I too noticed that after a full night's charging (the manual says to charge it for 10+ hours) the battery status in Window's bluetooth mouse properties page says that it only has "45%" or so, but who cares! If you need to charge the built-in battery either use the supplied charge cable or find a long enough USB cable to charge the battery while you use your computer!
I'm assuming that the built-in battery's capacity isn't very large (i.e. standard NiMH rechargable AAA batteries are around 600-800mah), hence the mouses' very light weight. I don't know if it'll last 3 or even 6 months between charging. It does have a 5-LED charge indicator that shows you the internal battery level when you turn it on. So far after a week's usage it's still at "5-bars" charge. I haven't used it long enough to give any useful feedback on battery life.

IOGear Bluetooth Mouse, February 19, 2011
This review is from: IOGear Bluetooth Wireless Tilt Wheel Laser Mouse GME229B (Grey) (Personal Computers)
I'm a bit disappointed with the product. Though it is very light weight, I think a bit more mass would make it easier to use. The Bluetooth looses conection 2 to 3 times over a 1 to 2 hour per session. Powering the mouse off and back on causes it to reconnected. My biggest disappointment is with the mouse wheel. The mouse wheel sometimes clicks loudly when scrolly. It depends on how I hold it.
