5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect! And the ONLY ONE that works with Windows Vista out of the box!
Unlike *all* the other manufacturers out there who seem to have been blind-sided by the advent of Windows Vista, this Bluetooth transceiver works right out of the box.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works in Vista x64, January 2, 2008

This review is from: IOGear Enhanced Data Rate Bluetooth USB Adapter with Range up to 66 ft. GBU221 (Personal Computers)
I had to search hi & low for an adapter that would work in Vista x64 (Premium Edition). I was trying to get my Treo 700p to synch (there are no 64bit USB drivers for the Treo). This uses Microsoft's Bluetooth stack (some others install their own) and worked well with both Vista and the Palm hotsync.

If your considering buying a blue tooth USB adapter, this is one of the best choices you can make for the price. There is also the cheaper version of this product by the same company but with amazon's $25 or more free shipping, this is better deal, price and featurewise. Haven't had any driver issues or anything, simply follow instructions and its up in 5 minutes. Fairly fast data transfer rate, and light as a feather. The only down on this product is having to wait for it to ship. two thumbs up!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice but big?, February 26, 2006
This review is from: IOGear Enhanced Data Rate Bluetooth USB Adapter with Range up to 66 ft. GBU221 (Personal Computers)
Great standard bluetooth adapter. I was looking for something with a little smaller profile to avoid the pen stuck in the side of your PC look, but this seems to be one of the smaller units.
I have used it with various bluetooth devices and works like a charm. There seems to be some latency when you are first picking up a device, but that may be just the bluetooth protocol part. Something to keep in mind as you consider other units.

This adapter works perfectly! Follow the directions in the manual and it's ready to go in minutes. It recognizes my phone 3 rooms away. I use it with a W810i and have no problems.

When I tried it in XP, plug and play kept interrupting my installation and I finally gave up. After I tried it on my linux machine, it started working with no special attention.

I haven't yet given it another shot in Windows but I can recommend this item for Ubuntu with Gnome.

I bought this adapter after purchasing a new bluetooth smartphone. Looking at all the different adapters, I saw a lot of them had poor reviews, either due to range issues or support for Vista, or general driver support. This one had mostly positive reviews, so I gave it a try. It works fantastically. Within a minute or two, I had my phone synching with my PC through bluetooth. This is with Vista Ultimate 32-bit. No problems at all. No slowdown issues on the PC, and I'm not sure how far the range really is, but I was able to synch with my pc from two rooms away with no problems at all. I have not had any issues staying connected. Well worth the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars works fine, but don't trust the manual if using with vista, January 12, 2008

I second the positive reviews, but after spending almost a day to make it work with Vista (which, as many forums show, has its quirks with Bluetooth), I recommend the following: DON'T listen to the manual or download the latest software from the manufacturer right away. FIRST, just plug in the adapter and then follow the instructions that Vista gives you after the "new hardware found"-pop up appears, it will guide you through all the required downloads. Then it is pretty easy and works perfectly fine.

I was hesitant to purchase this product because it is inexpensive. It arrived quickly, it was easy to set up (make sure you install the software first) and besides the fact that the signal was blocked when the device was plugged into the back of my machine, I had no problems.

My computer sits in a cutout built into my desk and it is against a wall with about 10 other cables coming off of it, so the interference with the signal didn't surprise me. Once I moved it to the top of my machine, (or better yet the front if you have that available) it has been working great with my bluetooth headset.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works Great with Vista, January 12, 2008
This review is from: IOGear Enhanced Data Rate Bluetooth USB Adapter with Range up to 66 ft. GBU221 (Personal Computers)
The main reason I got it was to use my new Motorola H500 headphones with Skype, and everything works great. Range is good too. I also put pics and ringtones on my cell phone.

I'm using it with Vista Premium and there are no problems.

It doesn't deserve 5 stars because it is a little thick which makes it tough to put 2 flash drives next to each other.
