I've had many covers for both my iPad and iPad 2 now (7 in total)... and this is probably my favorite. When I upgraded to the 2, I missed the original apple cover I had for my 1 and wanted something similar - but more upscale looking so I can take it into client meetings. This cover is great for that.

It was a very tight fit getting the cover on. I spent probably 20 minutes working it into the case. I could easily get 3 corners, but struggled to get 4. Finally got it - and now it's locked in nicely. (Secret - close the cover when you are trying to snap in place - gives iPad a bit more protection while squeezing into the cover. Also, just barely hook it into the corner, lightly work each corner and go around it a couple times squeezing a little harder each time).

The cover does as it's supposed to - turns on and off when I open/close the cover. I can fold it over (into triangle for angled work) and it seems to stay fine. And I can open it all the way and hold it like a book without issue (I admit, I was worried about this because none of the images show this).

Finally, it looks impressive. Nice, clean look, high tech... I think it's impressive.

Complaints (minor):
- very hard to get installed on mine.
- can't tell which end is used to open it - it looks the same in both directions. Have to look for the hinge or the power button to see which way to open it (mine has a tiny indentation at the top in the center which I have started to notice to make sure I open properly)

Positives:
- Unique look, I haven't seen anyone else with one like it
- Feels well protected.
- iPad2 will not come out of the case without purposely trying.
- all buttons exposed nicely, easy access
- cover power works as its supposed to
- completely exposes the entire front face of the iPad2

I've had the carboncover for 2 weeks and am very satisfied with the purchase. It works great and love the carbon fiber look. I had an apple smart corver and clear protective cover in the back but stop using after I received the carbon cover and never looked back.

With the iPad 2, the smart cover is cool but don't you want to protect the back? The original Apple case protected the entire case. Why didn't Apple integrate the smart cover with a cover for the back? If you are like me, this is the case you have been looking for. Don't waste your money on any other case. If you try and buy just 2 cases, you will have spent the same amount for this case and you will not be pleased. Buy just one case and be happy.

This case snaps into place and will not come off. The leather backing feels good, looks good, and completely covers the back and the edging around the iPad. It leaves openings for all switches, connections, and the speaker. In fact, the speaker cut out is the best I have seen. Elegant and useful. Look around at similar cases; take note of the speaker cutout and the protection for the sides as I mentioned here. Next, the top works just like the smart cover. The magnets hold the top down and it will not slide like other cases. (Trust me on this.. you will not hear the "click" sound of the cover opening and closing while you carry your iPad in this case.) It feels good and protects your iPad well. I was worried that the cover might have that cheesy carbon fiber look like the Trans Am dashes in the 80's. It doesn't. It's professional.

One item I must note; it takes about two weeks to "air" out. It has an industrial smell when you first take it out of the package. It almost smells like cedar. Don't let this one minor detail stop you from buying the case. It will go away. Some people may complain that the case will not keep the iPad standing in landscape mode. It's works fine for "typing" mode but it may slip in the taller "viewing" mode. If you are truly "VIEWING" something and not typing, this mode works fine. There is also a work around posted on youtube if you want to do more research about this. For me, the case works for me in either mode and it does exactly what I expect it to do.

I can't say enough good things about this case. Buy it already! It's a little more than I wanted to spend but I am not disappointed in any way. In fact, I am quite happy I found this case after making the mistake of buying two others.
