A Powerful, Simple, and Intuitive Editor.
Known for its ease of use, Guitar Pro allows you to easily and intuitively enter notes by using keyboard keys, mouse clicks on a fretboard, or directly through a MIDI instrument. It can handle up to 256 tracks, and supports 4- to 7-stringed instruments as well as percussion. It is even possible to enter non-guitar tracks.
Tablature and Standard Notation.
Primarily designed for tablatures, Guitar Pro allows you to switch to standard notation for viewing or editing scores. The two notation systems are bound, and a note entered in one system is automatically added in the other one. The rhythmics are automatically calculated and displayed by Guitar Pro. You just have to enter the note duration and let Guitar Pro do the work.
Complete Mix Table included.
Perfect for when you want the computer to accompany you, Guitar Pro allows you to set track audio parameters such as:
A Complete Workshop for the Guitarist.

Brilliant aid to musicians of all standards,

As any guitarist will tell you, reading tablature and trying to make what you read on the page sound like what you hear on the CD is a very difficult thing to do. Guitar pro is a kind of Karaoke tablature, if you will, in that you can see the tab as the song is "played" and the note played will light up.To call it Karaoke tablature, however is to do this software an injustice. It will synthesize the music on the screen, according to the music, as it knows the tempo, key, timing, what tuning the guitar is in, what guitar it is, indeed even what instrument it is, and it will make the song sound if not exactly like the CD, its close enough so you can easily recognise the song. It is not just restricted to guitars, it covers instruments from piano to strings to violins to flutes and includes a full drum kit and strange sound effects, too. If you wanted to hear "Hotel California" by the Eagles played on a flute, you can! The only caveat is you have to either use the music you have written already (quite a long process) or use some of the files on the internet (which are free) from [...] as the publishers dont officially provide any tabs for it. The best part about Guitar Pro is its use as a tuition aid, not just for seasoned guitarists! Say you have "Enter Sandman" by Metallica and you wish to learn to play the exceptionally hard solo in the song. You can pause the track when you get to the part you wish, reduce the tempo of the song and learn to play the music along with the track gradually speeding up as you get more confident, just as a conventional guitar tutor recommends learning something new and difficult. When you get confident at a piece of music, you can mute out James Hetfield or Kirk Hammet and play thier part in the song as the computer plays the rest. Like I said, its Tab Karaoke. This will even work for drummers or Bass players as you can mute their parts too! You can use Guitar pro to compose your own music, too as it has a comprehensive range of musical notation in its library, it can dispaly standard musical score as well as guitar tab, it is able to reproduce bends, slides, trills, harmonics, palm muting vibrato, hammer ons and pull offs and pops and slaps for bass players amongst many others. At least, this program will be an aid to learning a piece of music that has just eluded you for ages, at most it can be an integral piece to any musicians arsenal and a fantastic songwriting aid. If you like playing musical instruments, Buy Buy Buy!!!

Guitar Pro 4 has to be one of the best music composers available right now. Perfect for someone who already know what they are doing but wants to learn more songs (or write their own). I'd definately recommend it to any musician!

This is great stuff for any one who is tired of reading Tabs and not getting them to sound like they want. It is a little pricey but worth it in the end.
