5.0 out of 5 stars Great product for mac, August 3, 2010
This review is from: IPEVO FR-33.2 Skype USB Handset with LCD- Black (Electronics)
Very clear telephone that works great. I purchased this item for my parents because I was having trouble hearing them on Skype through the computer mic. Now when they skype me on my cell or landline, it sounds like they are calling me from a landline. Highly recommended, easy to use for a novice.

Excellent device, works great, great sound quality. Some configuration changes were done inadvertently to my PC (after installing my PC sound which used to go the system speakers went to th IPEVO device). Also configuring for the Skype ring to be heard on my system speakers is somehow cubersome. Still great device and mostly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Restored My Ability To Use Skype, September 29, 2010

Because I am an ex-pat living in the Dominican Republic, being able to make Skype calls to my sons and other family members in the US is very important to me. However, when I got back to the Dominican Republic last week with the laptop (Windows 7 64-bit) I bought while in the US, I found that sound quality was terrible compared with what I enjoyed with previous computer running XP.

Doing some research, I found the Ipevo products listed on Amazon. My first thought was to get the SO-20 wifi phone since that would not be attached to the computer, but checking the IPEVO website, I found it was out of production. I then looked at the USB handset, which had very good reviews. I contacted IPEVO customer service to confirm it supported Windows 7 64-bit and was assured that it did and directed to where I could download the driver for Windows 7: [...]

Today the phone arrived including a cd with a driver. However, the manual said to check the IPEVO website to be sure you had the proper driver, so I downloaded the Windows 7 driver and when I ran it, rather than the using the CD. From that point on, everything happened as the users manual described and the phone was soon installed and recognized by the computer and Skype.

To test the phone, with bated breath I made a call to the Skype test number, and sound quality was superb...as good or better as I had with the previous computer.

I am so pleased that if it were possible to give this product more than 5 stars, I would do so.

This handset, although a lot smaller than I had thought, is a great addition to my laptop. When I got it in the mail, all I had to do was put in the cd, install the software, plug in the phone, fix the default audio problem (which isn't hard), and I was good to go. This handset has great sound quality, and the only issues I have are that the internet connection I have, the bandwidth is shared with a very large amount of people, so there is no flaw with the phone. It's an overall great device, I just notice that the menus dont seem to work, so I have to select who I'm calling on skype on the computer, then hit the call button on the handset.
