5.0 out of 5 stars Great take along toy
We bought this for our 16 month old son. He has had it about 4 months and still loves it. It has every thing you could want, shape sorting, put and take, buttons to push, music, phone, peek a boo. Even a clock and gears to turn. We love it, it had the most activities in one toy. We also like it that the Fisher Price shape sorter (yellow can with circle, square and...

I bought this toy, sight unseen, for my son's 1st birthday, based solely on the glowing reviews. We've been disappointed with it so far. The electronic sounds are extremely loud and annoying- they play for a LONG time and there is no off switch. We had to remove the batteries because the noises scared my son. The "telephone" is a worthless piece of junk- there are MUCH better toy phones out there (consider the ones from Fisher Price or V-tech). My son does play with the gears and the clock a little, but it's not worth buying the toy just for that. For the same amount of money, you could buy a better shape sorter, toy phone, jack-in-the-box and still have money left over.

My daughter received this as a gift a year ago at 16 months old and LOVED it. We were visiting Gramma and she had no toys to play with and this entertained her for weeks! Now that she is almost 2 1/2, she loves it just as much because she can successfully accomplish all of the activities. Every friend we've had to play LOVES this toy as well! I highly recommend it, and am thrilled to have found it here, because I will definitely be giving it as a gift, as well as letting all the other Mommies know where they can find it! Definitely worth the money!

I bought this for my daughter when she was 8 1/2 months, she is now 11 months old and the busy box is still one of her favorites. She laughs hysterically when she plays with the gears. The music buttoms are perfect for little hands and the music is different from her other toys, she gets a kick from it. The sorter is very good - the shapes are 3-D, making it easier for baby to fit the shapes. The phone is pretty standard. The Jack in the Box, like the box in general, is very sturdy and well made. My very intelligent 4 yr. old niece also loves to play with the box. It keeps both kids' attention pretty long.

5.0 out of 5 stars good entertainment, July 30, 2004
This review is from: IQ Baby Busy Box (Toy)
I had suggested this as a gift idea for my 1 year old, based on the other reviews I saw. I am glad to say that is has lived up to my expectations. The door does come off occasionally, as I saw mentioned in another review, but that is not a big deal to me. It gives my daughter one more thing to put in the box since she loves putting everything in there. The music is somewhat loud and long, but as with most toys nowadays, you just get used to it! I would recommend this as a great 1 year birthday gift. I think it will continue to provide hours of entertainment for many months.

My daughter got this as a gift shortly before her first birthday. She has enjoyed the music and the sounds, and really is fascinated by the shape sorter and by the door you open to get into the box and has played with those aspects off and on for the last year. But some of the toys do not function well on ours. The "jack-in-the-box" feature is too hard for her to work on her own (and almost too hard for me to work), even now, when she is nearly two. You have to press hard on the button to get it to pop-up and even harder to get it to latch back down - she gets very, very frustrated. There are some manipulative pieces as well that stick a bit. It is otherwise a great toy, though, especially if you have a child who loves shapes, animals and music as much as mine does.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic toy!, November 5, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: IQ Baby Busy Box (Toy)
I bought this toy for my son's first birthday and he absolutely loves it. There are plenty of slots, buttons and gadgets for his tiny little hands to manipulate, and the complexity varies so this toy will continue to grow with your child and maintain his or her interest. The handle makes it so easy for both you and your child to carry. This is a wonderful toy to take with you to the doctor's office because there are plenty of activities to keep your child entertained while waiting (and waiting, and waiting).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great road trip toy!, March 17, 2003

Pros:
A variety of activities on each side of the box (including the bottom!).
It will grow with your child. Currently, my nine month old is more interested in all of the clicks and noises that the toy makes...however, I see it keeping his interest as he grows older by using the shape sorter, clock hands to learn time, number sequence, etc.
Lots of space inside of the box to carry/store additional small toys...sort of like a small portable toy box. The toys must be small enough to fit in an opening of appx. 5 1/2" x 3 1/2".
Nice handle for transporting.
Very durable.

Cons:
There is no "off" or "volume control" for the music buttons...you could remove the batteries if necessary.
I wasn't expecting it to be as large as it was...it is appx. 11"h x 9"w. My thought was to take it with us on a trip to Europe in a few months. I thought I would be able to pack it easily in a suitcase for transport...and I guess you could...but it will take up quite a bit of space depending of the size of your suitcase.

We did however, take it with us on two roadtrips in the last month and it was GREAT. I packed it with a rattle, teething ring, blocks, finger puppets, and a few other small things and off we went. It was nice to have everything contained in one box that also served as a toy itself. I do think this was a good purchase and would recommend it to others that need a good travel/road trip toy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun but door comes off, August 20, 2003

I got this for my daughter when she was nine months old. At seventeen months she still loves it. She has always enjoyed spinning the gears, pushing the buttons that make music, and using the play phone. Now she is able to use the shape sorter and it is her favorite shape sorter. It is easy enough for her to get the right shape in the right hole after a few tries. She also enjoys the bear-in-the-box which is better than many because it pops up when she pushes the button. Unfortunately the door for the bear comes off very easily and spends more time off than on. My only complaint is that I wish it was secured better. My husband and I also spend a lot of time gathering the shapes for the shape sorter and attempting to find the phone but I guess those items are the things that make this toy fun for my daughter.

Overall it has been a very versitile toy and a good buy.
