5.0 out of 5 stars Top Product!
A few years ago in San Diego, CA there was an emergency situation with fire outbreaks close enough to metropolitan area to create a toxic environment. My wife is susceptible to asthma and it made her very ill. In fact, our miniature maltese also became sick as well. I knew I had to find a top of the line air purifier asap. 2.0 out of 5 stars Foul smell
Really wanted to like this as it seemed these IQAir units are the best. After plugging it in, immediately noticed a very strong plastic-like odor. Assumed it would go away after a few hours. Well a few days later and the smell is still as strong and really unbearable in the nursery we put this in. Just read the other reviews for some of the other IQ Air products and saw...

My wife is susceptible to asthma and it made her very ill. In fact, our miniature maltese also became sick as well. I knew I had to find a top of the line air purifier asap. I researched many products and chose the IQ Air Healthpro compact home air purifier. It was expensive but the health of our family comes first. This is definately a worthy investment. We have utilized this product for several years and recommend it wholeheartedly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clears Toxic Fumes From Artist Oil Paint, June 28, 2008
By
I've had this air cleaner for three years now, running constantly, and am just now replacing the two filters. As a prior review mentioned, the refills are an investment, but the machine has allowed me to set up an art studio in my home. Oil paint fumes are seriously toxic and when the machine is running there is no odor at all. Absolutely silent on the lower settings, barely audible at full fan speed. Highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars I can breath and I'm snot kidding, March 23, 2006

I did my research and found this is the best large room air purifier on the market. I have suffered from allergies all my life and have been through all the medications. I still use the medications but as I grow older they seem to be less effective so I thought it time to try an air purifier. My wife has just begun to suffer from allergies. Both of us noticed that when we were in the room with the IQAir we stopped having runny noses and stopped sneezing. (When I moved it to the bedroom the snoring stopped too.) So now I find there is only one thing to do and that is buy another air purifier for the bedroom. Since this IQ Air may be a "compact" it is still a lug taking it up the steps. I only wish I could afford to buy one for my car and one for my office.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this product, July 10, 2008

My wife has severe alergies and used to sneeze constantly in the house, during allergy tests she pretty much came up positive for everything. She used to get allergy shots once a month, but no longer after this unit. Neither of us sneeze at all anymore. I also have a dog and smell is no longer an issue. Only problem is you can not use an air freshener in the house because it will have no odor. I have tried many air cleaner products and this is by far the best. It is big, its ugly and expensive to replace the filters, but I would pay double, worth every single cent.

2.0 out of 5 stars Foul smell, May 24, 2011
This review is from: IQ Air HealthPro Compact Air Purifier/ Cleaner (Kitchen)
Really wanted to like this as it seemed these IQAir units are the best. After plugging it in, immediately noticed a very strong plastic-like odor. Assumed it would go away after a few hours. Well a few days later and the smell is still as strong and really unbearable in the nursery we put this in. Just read the other reviews for some of the other IQ Air products and saw that some attributed the smell to the V5 filter. Seeing as how this unit doesn't have the V5 filter, it must be something else. I will probably run it in the basement for a few more days to see if the odor works itself out and will call IQAir to see if they have a fix but if not this will be returned and will probably look at the Austin Air purifiers instead.

5.0 out of 5 stars quiet and effective, March 5, 2011

This air purifier was the only thing to get a neighbor's cigarette smoke smell from affecting our apartment. It also helped a lot with the dust problems we didn't even know we had before purchasing this.
In addition, the machine is fairly quiet, even at the higher speeds, with the exception of the very highest speed. However, we considered the sound of the machine a feature at night, since it provided a very even and subdued white noise.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 years and still running strong, May 14, 2011
This review is from: IQ Air HealthPro Compact Air Purifier/ Cleaner (Kitchen)
I've owned this machine for 5 years now and it still works great. I bought this since i have severe indoor allergies. I feel a lot better indoors now than I do outdoors, so this does indeed work. I only had to change the HEPA filter once since I owned it, but you will need to change the premax filter much more frequently around once a year. I have left this on 24/7 for the past 5 years on level 2(anything above a level 3 can be quite noisy but level 2 does the job for my small space). It is quite an expensive investment at first but it sure is worth it in the long term. With the cheaper machines they most likely would not last this long so having to replace them 2 or 3 times could add up to almost as much. Also those other brands are definitely not as effective. So do it right the first time and get a high quality machine that works and lasts.
