5.0 out of 5 stars SUPER USEFUL!
I do not have that many cards but I just hate retyping them... retyping 10 cards is a waste of time and I have dozens...
I purchased this product with a "try and see" attitude (I am sincerely a tough customer to please when it comes to theses types of technologies) but I really am very satisfied with this product, not only because it does what it says it...

1.0 out of 5 stars Would be great if customer service was behind you
I purchased the item because I work for a company that deals with a lot of other companies and getting business cards is a large part of the communication. I thought it would streamline the process. It would but the unit keeps crashing. I would enter 20 or 30 business cards, write all the contact information in and then the next time I go to access it, it won't let me...

I purchased this product with a "try and see" attitude (I am sincerely a tough customer to please when it comes to theses types of technologies) but I really am very satisfied with this product, not only because it does what it says it does but also because of the special advantages. I discovered this little scanner also scan pictures! I scanned ALL my 4X6 pictures in Photoshop in half the time of a regular flatbed!
Very nice product! At this price, it is a no brainer!

It would but the unit keeps crashing. I would enter 20 or 30 business cards, write all the contact information in and then the next time I go to access it, it won't let me in. I get an error message. I've tried to get in touch with IRIS and get it resolved but they don't respond. Very dissapointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, easy to use tool!, July 6, 2005
This review is from: IRIS Business Card Reader II for Windows/PC (Office Product)
This product rocks! I attend trade shows quite frequently and have needed a business card scanner for awhile. The IBCR is a great tool which makes it easy for me to organize and maintain my contact database. I no longer have stacks of cards sitting around in my way on my desk because they are in my computer and just a click away. I've also used the scanner to scan color photographs and it's worked great for that as well. I have had no problems with the scanner working with XP, it's worked nicely for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Quality and Portability, June 6, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: IRIS Business Card Reader II for Windows/PC (Office Product)
After getting this reader and getting use to putting the cards in the correct way I love it. I love the fact that it is powered via the USB port. The quality is great and the text recognition is wonderful. I have scanned multiple business cards from conferences that I attend. I love the fact that I can export the contacts and separate them from the different events. The price is also reasonable.

The portability is a plus and I would recommend its purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great little scanner!, September 24, 2004

I work in purchasing at a manufacturing company and needless to say I see a lot of business cards. I've tried manual methods of organizing them, with little success. The IRIS scanner cannot be beat for simplicity and quality. The OCR software may leave a little to be desired, but has a fair success rate. The scanner also does a very nice job on 4X6 photos. (...) this is a good deal!!

I liked the unit so much a bought a second one for home, just to scan photos, as it is SO much faster than my flatbed scanner.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing but problems with this card reader, June 23, 2006
This review is from: IRIS Business Card Reader II for Windows/PC (Office Product)
I would NOT recommend this item. I had problem after problem with it and, in the end, it was not useful at all. While the tech support email service was notably quick in responding, their fixes could not salvage this effectively useless product.

1) As noted by another reviewer, the driver is not digitally signed for xp. Tech support said they didn't want to pay for it and that it worked fine in their tests, but if other companies are getting their products approved, I am inclined to switch to them.

2) The recognition part of the software was unable to properly read in a card. The scans were reasonably clean, but the ORC would come up with at most the person's name and maybe part of their title, but other categories (company, email) would be random characters and the remaining categories would not be filled.

3) Unhelpful tech support. Tech support emails were responded to quickly, but the advice was not particularly helpful and was unable to solve the problems I was having.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not much of a time saver. Works 50%, October 9, 2004

I am dissapointed that I cannot return this to Amazon for a full refund after trying it. The OCR is not as good as expected. It is completely usless for about a third of the cards I've tried. Fewer than 10% work perfectly. I feel I have to thoroughly scrutinize every entry because of numerous minor mistakes. My girlfriend told me not to buy it and I should have listened.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for American ACT! Users. Five stars for non ACT! users, November 3, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: IRIS Business Card Reader II for Windows/PC (Office Product)
the bad news:I purchased and returned the card reader because of a few "glitches" when converting to ACT! First, it does not convert telephone numbers in USA format XXX-XXX-XXXX. You must add 01 or else the conversion is made in the Notes section and requires a copy and paste into the telephone field of ACT! Second, you cannot add any fields, such as ID/Status, which results in "lost" contacts when you import into a large database.

The good news: Easy installation, superior recognition and no-nonsense to use. Definitely recommended for non ACT! users

This is a superb product. Electronic rolodex with the options to export to Outlook and many other programs. Automatically fills in the information from the card to the program. Great feature!

5.0 out of 5 stars see ya later cards, October 21, 2005
This review is from: IRIS Business Card Reader II for Windows/PC (Office Product)
This card reader is what I expected. It gets the job done. The quality of the image is a little grainy, but overall I am pleased with the product. I can carry all the business cards I want with me on a laptop. I can categorized them into separate databases with filenames that are meaningful to me and access them quickly, and move the database files to another computer and access them after installing the card reader software. As long as I back up the database files, I'll always have access to them. Even if I have to replace my hard drive and reinstall my operating system.
