Product Description

Amazon.com

Take the guesswork out of cooking times with this InstaRead thermometer by CDN. Made of premium grade stainless steel, the probe inserts easily into roasting meats and poultry and gives a fast temperature read-out. Accurate to within 2 degrees, the thermometer’s high visibility red pointer reads a dual scale from 130 to 190 degrees Fahrenheit (54 to 88 degrees Celsius), and can even be recalibrated for continued accuracy. The thermometer may be used on meats cooked in a conventional oven, microwave, grill, rotisserie, and smoker, and since the glass lens is oven-proof, it can be left in meats during oven cooking (though not broiling). The protective sheath for the thermometer features a pocket clip and loop to conveniently hold the probe. A five-year warranty covers the thermometer against defects.--Ann Bieri

A great - and quick - thermometer. Nice that it has a glass face and can be "in the heat"! Easily penetrates meats and is not TOO big that you can't use it for other cooking projects. Easy to read dial. Works well!

This thermometer works well but is slower to repsond as compared to a previous digital version I owned. The nice feature is it's easy to clean and no batteries required, bad side is it takes about 30 seconds to a minute to get to a true temperature if you use it for spot checking. Its OK, serves the purpose.

The sensor on this instant-read thermometer is halfway up the shaft, nowhere near the tip. For smaller pieces being checked, it's unusable without shoving the shaft all the way through and halfway out the other side.

I'll look for a better one and probably pretty much retire this one except for the rare occasions when I cook large roasts and such.

Thermometer worked fine on Thanksgiving turkey but clearly malfunctioned the second time it was used. Roast would have been burned to a crisp had I believed the thermometer instead of the cookbook. Save you money and buy something else.

I ordered this and today I had need to use it.
It works much better and is more accurate than
my digital which will soon hit the trash.
I prefer if at all possible to order items
that Amazon offers because of the free shipping,
not to mention that they stand behind their
products 100%.
I can say I honestly recommend this!

The 1st time my wife used this thing. It was on our Thanksgiving turkey dinner. The temp reading said that the turkey was done. She let the bird sit for a while then asked me to carve it. It was totaly pink inside still. She had to put the cut up pieces back into the oven to finish cooking. When it was dry a bone & crispy. The best place for this thermometer is..........

I got this to cook a prime rib roast. I wanted an oven proof thermometer to leave in the roast while it cooked. Although it was a little hard to read, it was still easy enough to use. The only problem it has is the temperature scale begins at 50 degrees Celsius, which is 122 degrees Fahrenheit. (It does have both scales listed). Prime rib, if you want it rare or medium rare, should be removed from cooking when the temp reaches 120 degrees F. However, many of the other thermometers only begin at 130 degrees F. So this is about as good as I could find for an over proof one. Again, worked just fine and appeared completely accurate when I compared it with a digital one I have.
