5.0 out of 5 stars excellent tool for its price
A great - and quick - thermometer. Nice that it has a glass face and can be "in the heat"! Easily penetrates meats and is not TOO big that you can't use it for other cooking projects. Easy to read dial. Works well!

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
The sensor on this instant-read thermometer is halfway up the shaft, nowhere near the tip. For smaller pieces being checked, it's unusable without shoving the shaft all the way through and halfway out the other side.

I'll look for a better one and probably pretty much retire this one except for the rare occasions when I cook large roasts and such.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works OK but slow, November 14, 2009

This thermometer works well but is slower to repsond as compared to a previous digital version I owned. The nice feature is it's easy to clean and no batteries required, bad side is it takes about 30 seconds to a minute to get to a true temperature if you use it for spot checking. Its OK, serves the purpose.

Thermometer worked fine on Thanksgiving turkey but clearly malfunctioned the second time it was used. Roast would have been burned to a crisp had I believed the thermometer instead of the cookbook. Save you money and buy something else.

I ordered this and today I had need to use it.
It works much better and is more accurate than
my digital which will soon hit the trash.
I prefer if at all possible to order items
that Amazon offers because of the free shipping,
not to mention that they stand behind their
products 100%.
I can say I honestly recommend this!

I had a meat thermometer for 40 years and the glass finally broke so I thought I would order another one. This one came in quickly and looked rather like the old one. The price was great but the first time I used it, It broke. I guess I'll have to look for an old one.

Very well made and perfect for my use for roasting (and baking somethings). The sheath fits perfectly but not for me in a pocket. I keep it in the drawer.

I like that it has a protective case for the shaft. Lense in oven safe (I learned from another that all are not).

The 1st time my wife used this thing. It was on our Thanksgiving turkey dinner. The temp reading said that the turkey was done. She let the bird sit for a while then asked me to carve it. It was totaly pink inside still. She had to put the cut up pieces back into the oven to finish cooking. When it was dry a bone & crispy. The best place for this thermometer is..........
