As a PhD-level contract research scientist, I use Reference Manager almost daily and am purchasing it for my undergrad son to use for his thesis at the U of Chicago. Once you get the "hang" of it, it saves countless hours in going back, trying to remember which reference you meant to cite--and you get your reference list instantly.

Reference Manager was very easy to use and I was able to start right after spending a small amount of time with the tutorial in the book.

Not at all intuitive, but once you get rolling its OK. Not having a book included, or a good reference file really made for a pain to figure out the nuances, and I'm sure I underutilized, but in the end it did what I wanted. I remember Endnote being a bigger PAIN, and therefore RefMan11 wins for me.

I have had two different versions of Reference Manager. I first had a version through my company, and it crashed so often and was so horrible that I used it once and then never again in that work setting. I decided to give it another try when I went back to school with the student version. Again, I have had so many problems that I would rather enter all of the references by hand. I would recommend not using this product unless you like crying over bad computer programs...

While I am appreciating the power of this program to access and keep track of references, and its ease of use in citations, it is NOT user friendly for saving to disc, then accessing stored reference files.
