This hotplate is GREAT! The entire surface is one temperature. It heats up food very nicely. You can place a pot with soup on the hot plate, and within 1 - 1.5 hours the soup will be piping hot. This is a great addition to any kitchen, and comes in quite handy for entertaining. It measures ... Front to back: 16 3/4"; Left to right: 23 1/4" (including the handles); The legs are 1 1/8" Tall, so there is a nice clearance from the counter. However, to be safe, I placed tile under the one that we purchased to protect the countertop.

The Shabbat hot plate is fantastic. When it first arrived, I thought it was off kilter. It's not. Once the product was heated, the plate was completely level. There was probably just some shifting during shipping. The Company actually called me to follow up on this! This Company has outstanding customer service. The Seller actually refunded my shipping charge, and I didn't even ask for it. Not necessary at all. Over the top service, great plate, and I can't wait to keep using the plate for Shabbos and Yom Tov.

We've been using this for a month or two now and used my friend's that is the same before that. We put it on a timer so it feels like it doesn't waste as much energy. It heats things up (chicken takes 30-60 min to heat depending on the number of pieces, bread takes 10 minutes or so). You do need to be careful that things don't burn if you leave them too long though.

George C in his "review" has no knowledge if this was the hotplate to blame in the recent Brooklyn tragedy. If it is, that fact should be widely publicized. However I have had two of these in the past and have taken both apart for repair. (The second one was purchased years after the first and I had hopes that some improvement was made in the intervening years.) I can say with 100% certainty that this product is very poorly designed. It's basically a large exposed coil on sections of ceramic block underneath the metal surface and attached with screws that will come loose under normal use. There is no thermal fuse (there is an electrical fuse attached to the indicator light). There is no electric cord strain relief. IT IS INDEED A FIRE AND SHOCK HAZARD. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT!

item is a good size, easy to use and heats quickly but for purpose of warming food for Shabbat it is just too hot and my meals have been ruined. It is so hot I actually got a burn that blistered just from touching it accidentally. I put a challah on it to warm for about 15 minutes and it burned. The challah bottom was hard and black. That is too hot. I can only use it if I put the food on an intermediate set of pans on top of the warmer.

The warmer is large and gets hot. It can warm up a large pot of soup in around an hour. You do need to take care if you plan on having food on for a really long period of time that it won't burn. I had a 3 prong to 2 prong converter I plugged it in to so that I could use a timer so that it would switch off after around 4 hours and so I wouldn't have to leave it on until after Shabbos. Assuming around 14.7 cents per kilowatt I found over the 4 hours or so it was on that it used 28 cents worth of energy (using my kilowatt device to measure) and from what I checked before Shabbos began it had it as about $1.50 per day to run.

Works great, the only item I would improve is a temp dial -

Heats up quick, maintains heat in the middle - and "cooler" towards the edges which allows you regulate without the dial.

My oven died right before the holidays. Bought this to keep food warm as it was done on the stove. Was able to fit 2 sheet trays on it side by side.

It also heated ice cold tray of fried shrimp to perfection in 40 minutes. I will be using this for every party. Stays hot for a long time after unplugging so you can bring it to the table to keep food warm.

Note: instructions are in Hebrew however simple to use. Plug it in. Hot in minutes.
