ITIL is a very dry subject. But, education providers should make it more interesting. This book certainly does not do a good job of that. It's presentation is shoddy. Examples are weak. There are quite a few typos in the book. And, it looks like the whole book was created by amatuers using MicroSoft Word. To make things worse, it doesn't cover everything needed for the foundation exam.

On the positive side, they have great customer service. I got registered to the online course in no time. The online course is equally bad. It's a couple of people reading out the book - good if you do well listening than reading.

All in all, I'd say avoid this book.

Where do I start? I'd say read the other Amazon reviews on this book but the reviews that are 1 star and 2 stars for a REALISTIC and HONEST opinion on this book.

I attempted the ITIL foundation recently after reading the book cover to cover three times and making notes as well as viewing the online videos ... and I failed the exam with 22/40.

This book is poorly structured with just very basic explanations of the topics. The book is written in a way that the topics don't go into enough depth to fully understand the content required to pass the exam, it's more like someone's study notes. The online course is no better, you get access to slides with someone talking about the topics, the content being not much different to what's in the book. The book is also only about 150 pages in length, so I don't see how this book can be thought of as a complete study guide. The book by itself is not enough to pass the exam (with no prior knowledge of ITIL), used with the online course and some additional reading/research and some prior knowledge of ITIL and you'll probably pass the exam.

I'm also very confused how this book has had so many positive reviews on Amazon. The only reason why I bought this "complete" study kit was because of the high number of positive reviews. I think the honest reviews are the ones with 1 and 2 stars. I'd highly recommend buying another ITIL guide or two than this one, even buying two guides would work out cheaper than this one.

This ITIL exam prep book and course are an invaluable study aid for passing the ITIL Foundation exam. Highly recommended.

I've been an IS project manager for over 10 years. I've studied ITIL materials in preparation, but took no courses or workshops. I studied this book and its accompanying course for 10 days immediately preceeding my exam. Read the book about 3 times.

I took the ITIL Foundation exam and got 98% of the question correct. I think that the study tips in the book and course helped me get about 15-20 questions right that I might have otherwise missed. (your mileage may vary). About half of the questions I missed were due to the test's wording which is tricky.

The book and course made me confident in sitting the exam, and is the best such book that I've come across.

Expensive, but worth it especially since your have access to the online learning component and exam prep as well.

Good focus on ITIL's processes (things important to ITIL Foundation and passing the test that your experience in IT may not help you)

Highly recommended, I passed in one go!

The combination of The Art of Service's certification kit and included online training not only taught me the concepts of ITIL v3.0, but also enabled me to pass the ITIL v3.0 certification exam in a short period of time. I bought this book mostly on the numerous positive reviews on Amazon.com. But it sure was a disappointment! This is not a book or outline of ITIL Foundation, this is someone's disorganized study notes turned into a (supposed) book.

There is very little text, mostly lists and short sentences or paragraphs that don't make a lot of sense without some background. There is no logical organization to the contents, it is just a random dump of information regarding ITIL. I can forgive a certain amount of spelling, grammatical and formatting errors, but this book has just too many problems. It is very difficult to use this as a study guide. Funny that the subject matter is all about delivering high quality service and the book itself is an example of everything you can do wrong.

It makes me wonder how this got so many positive reviews. It really is not worth the money, it is not even worth $5! DON'T BUY IT.

I received my ITIL V3 Foundation Complete Certification Kit - Study Guide Book and Online Course promptly. The kit consists of a paperbound textbook and an activation code for the online course material. The text covers introductory and overview material followed by chapters representing each phase of the Service Lifecycle. Each chapter has sample exam questions.

The online component includes a narrated presentation, basic online exam questions, as well as PDF files of several key ITIL models, exam prep material, and a 40 question sample exam. The sample exam is a good representation of the actual foundation exam.

It is important that you purchase your kit "new." Do not purchase used materials from some of the marketplace resellers who sell their used copy with no activation code for the online content.

Once you register at the provider's website you will receive an email confirmation and license key. This process was not fully automatic. However, the responses from the provider were very prompt and professional. The online course environment includes a forum and you can see who is online. I found that the author of the material was often online and available for discussion. All correspondence was prompt and intelligent.

The materials and content are a good value for the money. The knowledge is probably sufficient to enable your certification. However, copyright protections prohibit the authors from using verbatim citations from the official ITIL standards and this package only covers the key concepts at the foundation level. As the title indicates, this material is a study guide. If you are serious about ITIL you will want to supplement your study with a foundation level text (such as Foundations of IT Service Management Based on ITIL® V3 ISBN 978-9087530570) or other materials (some of which may be purchased from the authors of the certification kit).

Although the book is very helpful with high level overview of the ITIL foundation material it was dissappointing to not get any online course. Says full certification kit but the only thing included is the book.

Not worth buying as you can obtain online CBT's and courses that are much better for a little more than what just the book costs you

I bought this paperback book assuming that there would be more substance that what I actually received. What this book does is provide an overview of ITIL with little substance but it does entice you to purchase additional on-line training for additional money. This is a big rip off! DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!

I have never seen a so-called official "certification" manual as devoid of information and as badly written as this. The book uses about 150 pages of paper to communicate probably ten pages of substance, and compounds this sin by containing numerous typos, grammatical errors, and misspellings. For an organization that is based in the UK, one would think the authors would have a better command of the English language than that displayed in this book. Embarrassingly bad.

This book was an easy read, which is why i am giving it 2 stars. Unfortunately, this book didnt cover the material in great detail. The registering and logging into the website was confusing. I had to search out and find test dumps to study for the test. I am glad i did as there was a few things on the test that wasn't covered in the book... CSI area is my example.
