At 80 lumens, it is the brightest 1XAAA flashlight I have seen so far.

It has the power of a full size flash light, yet is very small in size.

This light is considered one of the best budget lights by flashlight enthusiasts. Make sure you get the upgrade version which has 3 modes, a low 1.5 lumen, a medium 40 lumen, and the high 80 lumen.

For comparison, a 3xAAA light with 9 normal 5mm LEDs (standard 5 dollar light) probably puts out 10-20 lumens or so, with a very diffused beam with no real hotspot.

This light has a very smooth beam. With a normal cheapo light if you shine it at a wall, you will see lots of rings and artifacts due to the plastic reflector.

The A3 does not have this effect at all. Holding it about a foot away from a wall, you will see that it has a hotspot of around 1 inch diameter. Then it has a corona which is about 1 foot in diameter which is called the spill.

The spill is what allows you to easily see your surroundings late at night. If you are walking, a super bright area of 1 foot across doesn't do much for you... its the corona that lights up the entire area so you can see what you are doing. I'd say about half the power of the light goes into the corona. A focused maglight for example has almost all its power in its focused hotspot by way of comparison.

The hotspot gives the light its 'throw'. This means that you can shine the light at something 50 feet away and still see it. The spill beam is effectively gone at that range, but your tight hotspot has expanded into a nice spotlight effect.

The light itself is a neutral white color. Against a white wall, it will appear perfectly white.. around 5000K if this helps. This is unlike an incandescent which is around 3000k and has a yellowish or 'warm' feel to it, and a 6500k flourescent which has a 'cold, clinical' feel to it.

The A3 is very tiny and can easily fit on a keychain.

I purchased this for my keychain. It turned out to be brighter than my regular full size flashlights. At 80 lumens, it is the brightest 1XAAA flashlight I have seen so far. Much brighter than any streamlight pen lights and minilights. Compare for yourself. Super small and tough. I highly recommend it.

The EOS has officially bitten the dust after only 5 months of keychain use. What a disappointment! I dunno what happened, at first I thought I left the light on, and the battery was completely sucked of juice, so I got home, replaced the battery with a fresh one, and still no dice. The spring at the bottom is not compressed, there is no kind of noticeable damage anywhere. It WAS a great light before this happened, but i've decided that, as with anything, you get what you pay for. Maybe a $20 keychain light should have lasted longer, and I'm sure I can have it replaced as its still under warranty, but I'm going to shell out $60 for a brand new Four Sevens Preon Revo. Roughly the same size, uses AAA battery, but is current-regulated, has a better emitter and overall finish and has considerable favorable reviews from every site that has one on it. If you want the absolute best EDC/keychain flashlight on the market, get a Four Sevens Preon ReVo SS. It's expensive, but awesome. Forget this junky EOS.

This is hands down the best compact light I have found. The ability to operate in 3 modes is one of its best features. The default ON mode (when you turn the end) is a medium bright mode great for most applications. Also available (by turning again) is a super-bright, dazzling 80 lumen mode, and a super-long burning 5 lumen mode. The 80 lumen mode qualifies this as a "tactical flachlight", which is often defined to mean at least 50 lumens output, the light output needed to dazzle and temporarily blind someone if shown directly into the eyes. The 5 lumen mode can run for days, and puts out a very practical amount of light in a dark environment. For a survival light, which you might need for days of light, it can't be beat.

This light is small - it runs on a AAA battery and is about the size of a AA battery. It is *freakishly* bright for it's size - you can use it anywhere you'd normally use a full sized flashlight in my opinion. It's really surprisingly bright and useful for a single LED light.

Because it's easy to slip into your pocket, clip to a belt loop, attach to your keys, etc... I find I actually have it with me when I need a light. Fit and finish is excellent; I'm *very* pleased with this light and consider it well worth the money.

Love this light. It is a key chain light. 80 lumens, one setting, that's all you need. I think this light is better then the 'upgrade' version with 3 light levels. Who needs 3 light levels on a key chain light? On a key chain light I want maximum brightness always.

I love this light. Very bright, light, and small enough that you wont leave it home because it does not fit any where. I leave it in my small pocket in my jeans. My only disappointment is the loop for the key. It is a key chain light but the loop pulls out far to easy and I am sure it would loose it the first time I hooked it on a belt loop or suspended it from a set of keys.
