This Double Relief Formula of Ivarest Poison Ivy Itch Relief Maximum Strength 2 oz product actually does what the label says. The cream contains an antihistamine which "helps stop the reaction" and an analgesic which "soothes itch fast."

Beginning in January of this year I began clearing out two large sections of my yard containing stands of orange canna lilies. Spread amongst them were little trees, and a variety of vines, including, of course, poison ivy. Am I allergic? Oh yes, all I have to do is look at poison ivy and whomp! out pop horrific blisters that I must must scratch.

Over the first three months of steady work in those stands I have cleared out most of the growth, but at a price. Not once, not twice, but three times that ol' nasty poison ivy bit me. I stayed infected with poison ivy bubbles for three months. I used Calamine lotion, but all it did was cover the blisters. I should have gone to my doctor for a shot and will next time.

Instead, I looked around my pharmacy and found Ivarest--you know, rest from ivy! I almost gave four stars because Ivarest does not dry up the blisters, but the label says: "helps stop..." That's exactly what it does: helps. Since I did not go to the trouble of getting a shot, I had to be satisfied with help to stop the reaction. As for relief of itching pain, absolutely, it does soothe and relieve almost immediately.

Next time--hopefully there will NEVER be a next time--I WILL call my doctor!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Stuff For Itching, March 30, 2011
By
This review is from: IVAREST CREAM Size: 2 OZ (Health and Beauty)
My wife got some really bad poison ivy in our back yard so we did a web search and, among other suggestions, found this product. It is, in my opinion, the most effective stuff we tried (I can't really remember what else). I now have a tube of it where ever I go - in my backpack, locker at work, table next to my bed, etc because it works on any kind of persistant itch ranging from mosquitoes to itches of unknown origin. It works best if you have already scratched a bit and removed the outer layer of epidermis (not scratched bloody). I highly recommend this for small to moderate persistent itches. But if you think you need to slather on a bunch for something, just go to a doctor and get what ever it is looked at - anything you put on yourself get absorbed into the blood, liver etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this stuff!, May 27, 2010
This review is from: IVAREST CREAM Size: 2 OZ (Health and Beauty)
I don't have Poison Ivy/Oak issues, but I do have heat rash and skin allergies during spring and summer. This stuff clears it up quickly. I also use it on fever blisters/cold sores and pimples when they pop up. It clears them in a couple of days...it stings a bit for about 20 seconds, but it's well worth it!

I have used Ivarest for many years to help stop the itch from Poison Ivy and chiggers. It works better than anything else I have tried.

1.0 out of 5 stars Reaction to Ivarest-test before using, September 11, 2011
This review is from: IVAREST CREAM Size: 2 OZ (Health and Beauty)
I used Ivarest to relieve symptoms of poison ivy that had already developed. The scrub felt incredibly soothing to my irritated skin so I used it two times within a 12 hour period.

That night, I awoke to a boil filled with puss forming on my forearm, where my poison ivy rash was and where I used the Ivarest. I was worried and my worry increased the next morning when the boil became a 2 inch wide abscess. By that afternoon I had at least six other large abscesses form, along with about twenty other small ones.

This reaction is not new to this product- I spoke to a nurse at the ER (where I had to go in order to relieve my huge boils and to obtain antibiotics and steroids) as well as a friend's mom, a gardener, who had the same reaction.

I do not think this is a coincidence. Please test this product before using.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reduces the itching, August 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: IVAREST CREAM Size: 2 OZ (Health and Beauty)
This product works well to reduce the itch of poison ivy and poison oak, and it does keep the itch away for a long time. I have only needed to apply it once or twice a day, although the rashes I have had have been very small. It was recommended to me by a guy who gets poison ivy all the time because he mountain bikes in the woods a lot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh Sweet Relief...., August 9, 2010

I'm not sure if I'm "allergic" to poison ivy, but like the other reviewers, I just have to look at it to pick it up. And because I go trail running often, I get it quite a bit. I've tried a lot of things, and I saw this at the store and had to try it. It is amazing! It is the best itch-soother I've ever used. As noted, it doesn't stop the oozing (which is the worst part, for me) but does help to dry it out a few days sooner. This stuff looks like calamine, so get used to pink legs, but it works so who cares?! It takes a few minutes to dry, too. Give it a whirl, though, I think it's definitely worth it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this product!, November 13, 2009
This review is from: IVAREST CREAM Size: 2 OZ (Health and Beauty)
This is the only thing that has really helped me relieve any poison ivy symptoms. I am very allergic to poison ivy, along with the rest of my family, and this is the only product that we use loyaly to prevent/get rid of the nasty rash that comes with a poison ivy outbreak.
