A seven-times murderer who kills those whom he considers to have too much in the way of the finer things of life - he calls them "richies" - is finally caught and sentenced. But instead of being tossed in jail forever he is offered the opportunity to undergo a new and unique rehabilitation technique, which, if it succeeds, may see him back in society in six months. There is a downside - a slight chance he may die in the process. Naturally he takes the offer.

IVRRAC is an unusual and enjoyable suspense novel, something a little different from most suspense novels. Not quite Sci-fi, more just advanced technology. And the setting is gorgeous - a fictional mountain and lakeside town that is modelled closely on one of New Zealand's most popular resort towns.

Although the writing style is somewhat stilted at times, the book is an easy read. Unfortunately there are a few typos, but the formatting is good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not to Miss, August 19, 2010

I heard about this book on the Kindle forum and at first glance thought that it was not in a genre that I normally read.
I downloaded the sample of this book first, and was so intrigued that as soon as I reached the end of the sample, I downloaded the book.
Don't even bother with the sample, get the whole book, you will not be sorry.

My one complaint is the fact that I guessed what was going on from the airplane ride but that is my fault and not the authors. Even knowing what was going on did not in any way intrude on the enjoyment of the story and it didn't prepare me for the ending.

This is a book that you do not want to miss. It is fast paced and will make you take a look around you in a new light. There is a minor amount of profanity, but it is placed where it should have been. There are times when "gosh darnit" would just not been true to the character or to what was happening to them.
I can't tell you much about the story without giving something away.

I can tell you that it is the story of a man, Simon, who has killed seven people. He is brutal and quite frankly, insane, but what happens to him is unexpected and shocking. Every character in this book is well developed and you will find yourself knowing all of them by the end of the book. You will feel what they are feeling and sometimes find yourself talking to them as if you know them.

Don't hesitate to buy this book, IVRRAC, you will not regret it.

4.0 out of 5 stars very good with a surprising twist, September 8, 2010

Unlike Frankie, I didn't catch onto the twist until it was revealed. (Maybe I'm slow--lol) I've never read a story like this and it is definitely unique on its own. Simon/Scott basically is a sort of demented Robin Hood. Instead of stealing from the rich to give to the poor, he kills them. I won't give anything else away, but as others have said, the book is fast-paced and doesn't waste time with filler chapters. The only downsides are the punctuation and occasional grammar errors (I majored in journalism & minored in English so I'm anal about those things), but I think this book is self-published. If a big publishing house with editorial resources took a chance on this author, they would not be disappointed.

I bought the eVersion of this book for 99 cents and was overcharged by about a dime. The writing is terrible- there are so many grammatical errors, I lost count (and the author thanks someone for catching his grammar errors, so it's especially scary), and the viewpoint of the narrative changes without warning and without explanation on a random basis in the middle of a page.

As for the story, it is an interesting idea completely wasted by someone with only a peripheral knowledge of his subject matter. The holes in the scenario are too big to allow enjoyment by any but the most gullible of readers.

I don't enjoy panning any writer, but with so many talented people going unpublished, I can't let bad books like this go unmentioned.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, June 30, 2011

A futuristic type novel, set in New Zealand. Simon is a serial killer who's just been caught and sent to IVRRAC who claim they can re program his mind to stop killing, and have him released back into the community within 6 months. Apart from six months being a light(!) sentence for seven murders, I really like this book, although the topic of why he is sentenced to six months of 'rehabilitation' is covered in the story.

This story is about those 6 months. Excellent character development, and well written, although there are a few grammatical errors. The way the characters intertwine is interesting, and really well done. I love a good twist, and there are a few in this book.

A bit of action, some romance and comedy. Not a massive book. A good fun, easy read.

4.0 out of 5 stars When's it going to be made into a movie?, February 17, 2011

It wasn't what I thought it would be...it was better! Hard to put down and very well written. Talk about a page-turner (if you can describe it as such on a Kindle)! It's difficult to say what it was about without giving away the whole plot. There are twists and conclusions that seemed obvious at first but surprised me nonetheless and it had a mystery element to it too. Before I was even half way through I knew I'd be giving this book a good review. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I can't wait for the movie, which is my way of saying it's good enough to be made into a movie. Well done Peter Robert Jordan

4.0 out of 5 stars Find out what IVRRAC means, November 5, 2010

IVRRAC was an interesting read, but not what I expected. From the description I expected more of a thriller type book - a serial killer goes through a specialized rehabilitation but discovers that it doesn't work. I assumed that it would be an edge of your seat thriller. Well, you know what happens when we assume... This is not a thriller, there are not a lot of twists and turns and I didn't find it very suspenseful. Although it wasn't what I expected, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. It is a character study, a study of human nature and a bit of a love story. Can people truly change? How strong is free will? Peter Robert Jordan tackles these questions in IVRRAC and leads us down a thought provoking path. You find out what IVRRAC stand for later in the book but you can probably guess some of it.
