Good case, good keyboard, great price, lock key can get hit by accident fairly easily
on October 23, 2014
Provides good protection
Stylus/pen readily available if needed
Lock key location
Small backspace key
I've had this case for about 3 weeks now and really like it. I originally got it for the price, not knowing if I would would really use a keyboard that much I stayed away from more expensive models. Glad I did. I've ditched my simple slim type case in favor of this one. The keyboard paired easily with the tablet and has stayed paired the entire time. It takes about 2 seconds to connect when I turn it on.
When I need the keyboard (I do a lot of system management via SSH) it works like a champ. I really like having both slashes (/ and \), a tab key (for command completion) and all of the special characters easily available vs. the soft keyboard. My one quibble is with the lock key being right above the half-size backspace key (okay make that two quibbles). I think the lock key would be better in another location, or better yet as a function key. And make the backspace key at least the same size as the other keys. As far as speed, I'm not a great typist doing about 40 wpm, but didn't notice any lag with this keyboard.
I'm not a stylus user, but I have left it attached with the case as it's mostly out of the way and doesn't bother me. The fact that it's also a pen came in handy a couple times though.
The Galaxy Tab has now replaced my laptop as my goto device for quick hit type stuff because of the keyboard. When I just want to browse the Web or read a book I remove the keyboard and fold back the case. It's obviously bulkier than the tablet alone, but not annoyingly so and the felt lining actually makes it easier to hold on to. If I do want to remove the entire case for any reason, it's a quick pull up on the velcro tab and the tablet comes right out. No trying to pry it out like some hardshell cases I've used in the past on other tablets.
The stand feels a little flimsy and I worried that it wouldn't take too much abuse, but it's held up to three weeks of nearly constant usage. It's even been knocked off the coffee table with the stand open a few times (thanks dogs) with no breakage. I found I can easily use this on uneven or plush surfaces (lying in bed, out on the grass in the park) by detaching the keyboard and flipping the case under the stand for stability.
No idea what the battery limit on the keyboard is. I've gone a little over a week before topping it up, but haven't run it all the way down yet. I doubt I'll ever be where I can't charge it up at least once every two weeks.
