Wow what a bar-gain!, February 12, 2012
This review is from: IWC Vintage Collection Portofino Hand-wound Mens Watch IW544801 (Watch)
I've been looking for an inexpensive timepiece like this for a long time now. I grew wary of wearing high priced watches when I am resigned to slum it in a lowly Bentley or Aston Martin. This watch is perfect for that! Now I can blend into the same crowd that wears G-shocks and Rolexs!
I find the faux leather to be a very nice touch! Almost looks real (scoffs, almost.) And it is somewhat accurate. But overall, I feel it could have been made slightly cheaper in order to throw off the street urchins. Just the other day, I was minding my own business (And by that, I mean liquidating small business and sending jobs over to India, China, etc...) When some person of non Anglo-Saxon origin begged me for money. I was appalled! Frightened even! I gave a look of disdain to my bodyguard. Like a "You're not doing your job keeping this... 'thing' away from me look!" He shrugged it off as not a big deal, but I was mortified to what I was experiencing. The "outcasted semi-humanaire asked me for spare change. It took me a while to realized that currency came in less than $100.00 denominations. Once I realized what he wanted, I took my watch off my wrist. I looked at him, right in the eye; an almost impossible thing for me to do and said: "This watch certainly does not look the part, but it is, in fact, a $10.000.00 dollar watch. I give this to you. I hope you can sell it and get your life together."
The man was almost speechless (apparently those things could talk?). His hands shook with disbelief. He extend what appeared to be his dominant paw outward to me. My altruism had him in an almost euphoric state of mind. Just before I handed the timepiece over to him, it dropped out of my hand onto the ground. I yelled: "Now!" to my bodyguard and he drew his Desert Eagle .440 Corbon and blew the watch away!
Suddenly the same group of Navy SEALS that raped Bin Laden's face with bullets (They work for me now.) flew over the horizon in a Blackhawk helicopter carrying my Maybach. They dropped my Maybach on the street beside me and secured the perimeter. I was whisked away from the dreadful scenario and driven back to my 100,000,000 square foot mansion by Danica Patrick.
Overall, I give the watch 4 stars. It's not bad. It does, however, need to be toned down. I truly do not wish to encounter another tale like the one bespoken. I will look into lesser watches like Hublot, Paneria and Seiko. Will anyone ever make a timepiece that's truly right for me?
