This watch is fantastic! I can't believe how many people complain that this is overpriced! How can you compare the pure beauty of this to some small problems like money? Let's be honest most of us have at least a $250k leisure budget each year & this easily fits in. If you are trying to save money, buy this watch! Can you measure the importance of being on time always?? Also there are some great features about this that are not listed here. For example, I bought this watch shortly after both of my arms had been lost in a horrible jenga accident. Only a few short weeks after buying this watch, it grew my arms back for me! The back of the watch will slowly open up & the da Vinci code will be revealed to you. It also is powered by yellowcake uranium, which was a small problem at first, but I've got a guy now! So here is the bottom line, I am positive that if you buy this watch you will inherit a small European country, all the models in a 50 mile radius will be throwing themselves on the hood of your Maybach as you speed to the club, unicorns will appear in your servant's quarters, and most importantly people will look to you as a leader, a sign of pure intellect. This watch can also be used for a hearty soup.

Before I bought this watch my life was horrible. I was constantly stubbing my toe, or knocking my elbow into the fridge door in my cramped 179 square foot apartment. I was so clumsy, always dropping my 1992 Honda Civic keys while on the way to my job, where I work at the sanitation department. Luckily last month I bought this Portuguese Minute Repeater Gold Watch. Now whenever I fall down or do something terribly clumsy I just push the button on this watch and go back in time one minute. The Minute Repeater is an excellent feature for those who are endlessly clumsy like me. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because at times, appearingly random, the Portuguese Minute Repeater Watch will not send you back one minute in time but rather to Portugal. I tried looking in the manual and it says it will do this from time to time so the watch can be serviced by the makers, who dwell in a castle on the highest peak in Portugal. Unfortunately this feature of the Minute Repeater CANNOT be disabled. So before you use this watch make sure you have all the climbing equipment necessary to make the 39,034 foot descent from Mount Olympugal on your person at all times, as well as a valid passport in order to leave Portugal.

4/5 stars due to the fact I am spending a lot of money on one way plane tickets from Portugal to LA.

Let's face it, folks. I am not what you would call a well endowed man - two marbles and a wad of chewing gum is probably not a totally unfair description. However, when I am sporting my IWC Men's IW524205 Portuguese Minute Repeater Gold Watch, I feel like I'm the most virile stud on the planet; kind of like Jean-Claude Van Damme mixed with a Bengal tiger mixed with a coke bender. And with the ladies... man, what can I say... it's almost unfair to the other, ehem, gentlemen callers.

So, why the three star rating? Unfortunately, they neglected to illuminate the price on the face of the watch, so when I'm asked for the time, I am constantly having to say: "The time? Let me check my $62,000 (retail $86,000) watch."

When I meet a new acquaintance or business colleague, I can't just subtly flash the ole' IWC to produce an awed unspoken understanding that they are amongst a man of quality and style; I have to cleverly drop it into conversation: "Very nice to meet you, Mr. So-and-So... Did you know that my watch is worth about two times the U.S. median household income? That's right - a whole family would have to punch the clock, day in and day out, for two years to get a taste of this sweetie."

And when I am at a bar, I have to drop little hints like: "So, it looks like my ridiculously expensive IWC Men's IW524205 Portuguese Minute Repeater Gold Watch is telling me that its time for you and me to go for a little drive in my 2013 Platinum Rose Jaguar XJ with supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission."

So beyond that, it's pretty nice.

I see a lot of jokes but after going to IWC's website I see this model number is not listed. Therefore it probably no longer in production. But the newer model repeater watch goes for 93k. At least I can dream. But the watch is real and a thing of beauty if you're into watches. Most I ever paid for a mechanical watch was 500 and that was after a lengthy lay away. But I'm just a hard working dude from the Bronx.

What a treat! I've finally stumbled across a watch that I don't have to actually look at in order to tell the time!

Ever since a childhood accident involving a tuning fork, undercooked steak, barbed wire, and a quart of diesel fuel, I am "uncomfortable" looking at watches in order to determine the current time. Instead, I've always dreamed of the day when I could simply fumble around my general wrist area, press a button, and have the current chronological state (down to the minute) relayed to me in pure auditory ecstasy.

Thank you to the Portuguese/Swiss team that bridged continents, language, time zones, and cultural differences in order to put my childhood phobia to rest, finally.

p.s. I gave this product only 4 stars because I thought the face plate was standard acrylic. I was a bit saddened to learn it was in fact sapphire, as this does add some unnecessary weight to the product. I find I can't enjoy sports such as tennis or chess as thoroughly now because I have to stop and remove the watch due to muscle fatigue. But, for this engineering marvel, it was worth every penny. God bless us, everyone.
