This album rocks!,

This review is from: Ian Moore (Audio CD)
Ian Moore's self titled debut album is a 1 hour tour de force of guitar magic and lyrical power. Tracks like "Satisfied" and "Deliver Me" hand down choruses that will make you hit the <repeat> button on your CD player, and the hard-hitting riffs of "Harlem" and "How Does it Feel" will make you crank up the volume. I enjoyed this album more than any album I've heard in a long time....

blues-rock at it's best,

I've been listening to Ian Moore and going to his shows for 3 years and he's one of the best to come out of Austin in a few years. This album combines good, rocking guitar with soulful and heartfelt vocals to give you some music you won't easily put back in its case.

A gem I recently discovered...,
This review is from: Ian Moore (Audio CD)
First, let me just say that if you're considering purchasing this CD, you definitely need to read the review by "A music fan from Detroit Rock City." "Music fan" has basically covered every base you could want covered in a review, and his/her assessment is dead-on. I already knew about Ian Moore's label and style shifting before I bought this CD, but if you buy this CD and come to love it like I do, then you'd expect Ian's other CDs would follow much the same style. Sadly, that's not the case...Why Ian Moore chose to depart from the bluesy guitar into another style is beyond me because this CD definitely showcases his talents for bluesy songs. He has a great voice, the guitar sounds effortless, and the whole package is natural. My love for this CD began with one song--"Satisfied." While I really enjoy the CD in its entirety, I think "Satisfied" is the best track. It is in this song that you can hear unchecked emotion and desire, and when it comes through the speakers, you feel what he must've been feeling as he sang it. Sounds corny, maybe, but in its simplicity, this song is potent. "Deliver Me" and "Blue Sky" are also great songs--"Deliver" has a gospel feel to it, and "Sky" is a plaintive request for some shelter, some comfort in a difficult time. As I already said, the whole CD is a gem, but there are a few of the tracks that you'll find yourself listening to over and over. I wish I could say that I plan to get more of his music, but in light of Music fan's review and what my friends have told me about his later CDs, I don't think I will be. I plan to at least listen to them, just out of curiousity... While this isn't available on Amazon right now, you can still find it in some record stores. Major chains don't seem to have any copies left (I tried 5 completely different stores and no luck), so try your smaller neighborhood music stores to find this treat!

Watch out Clapton, Here comes Ian Moore,

Let's just say that Ian Moore is extremely versatile. Not only can he play the hell out of his guitar, he can also sing his heart out. He is truly gifted and it is a shame that he is not radio-played. "Carry On" is probably one of his best tunes: Great intonation (voice and guitar).

This album is courageous. Ian Moore cuts to the chase with his lyrics and his guitar talents. From Redemption to Satisfied to How Does It Feel, Ian delivers passion and feeling for which blues induced songs are famous. This album reflects the feelings of a man who has loved, lost, and redeemed himself. It is inspirational, and helpful to those of us who wish we could express ourselves so well.

Saw Ian in Oklahoma City with his original band and it was great live. This album is good but in no way reflects his live performance. See him live if you have a chance.

Ian Moore Debut,

In light of the recent Ian Moore Band reunion shows (15 years later), my only problem is essentially with Amazon. They do not provide enough stars to adequately gauge how good this record is.

Real, from the heart music - WAY beyond the audio samples.,
This review is from: Ian Moore (Audio CD)
WHen you listen to the audio samples, you can get a sense of the songs and the voice, but this CD has so much to offer that you need to hear in its entirety to understand. It brings so many styles together in a way that reaches a lot of people. It is something that I always miss when I haven't heard it in a while. The guitar work is excellent. It's not an easy thing to categorize beyond being great, soulful, widely influenced music. I saw an interview where he says he doesn't know how to make people happy. He already did. Unfortunately, this is it and it doesn't make HIM happy any more, which I can't hold against him, but it's a loss to the people who found this CD and want more.

Fantastic Debut, But A Tease,

This was one of the most impressive releases I had heard in a long time when it first came out. Although it's generally lumped into the blues-rock category, it has elements of soul & even gospel that give it a very unique sound. Moore shows off some of the best vocals here that I've ever heard, & his songwriting is thoughtful, personal & sometimes spiritual. I was anxious to see what the future would hold for this promising artist. Unfortunately, after a followup live EP which mainly included selections from this release, Moore has since opted for an eclectic experimental approach with disappointing results.

I wore out the cassette I bought and had to replace it with the CD. My wife and I have seen Ian Moore in St. Louis several times, and the only complaint she has had is that he cut his hair! Ian Moore is one who FEELS his music...and you will feel it too!
