This Ibanez is by far the least expensive guitar I own.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the AM93, or any Ibanez archtop, over anything else from any other manufacturer.

The workmanship is flawless, and is typical of what is coming out of China, Korea, and Indonesia.

WOW. the finish is incredible.... the yellow sunburst quilted maple top has what seems like super glossy GLASS on it, its a beautiful, beautiful instrument. the gold toned hardware give it an exquisite touch, the tuners work well and are nicely aligned. the neck feels good, fairly thin, the fretboard feels right and a decent width for my fingers. the pickups are Ibanez's own SUPER58, and they sound rich, chunky, not too bright. the AS93 has a higher range but not the crunch of the AM93. I installed PEARSE medium jazz strings on it as soon as I got it home, IT SINGS! IT ROCKS! IT ROLLS! IT CRUNCHES! IT WAILS! IT does THINGS!!!

its a fairly lightweight instrument. the controls feel tight and fairly decent, not too cheap. its made in China, but Ibanez's QA program does a great job of making sure REALLY GREAT INSTRUMENTS reach the musician's sending their cash. at $550 street price, from a $850 MSRP, its a GIFT. I've played instruments into the thousands that DO NOT BEGIN to get to where the IBANEZ AM93ays is.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the AM93, or any Ibanez archtop, over anything else from any other manufacturer. I bought an epiphone sheraton II and it totally paled compared to ANY of my Ibanez I have. I bought a SAMICK GREG BENNET jazz box for $1200 and it sounds horrid compared to my Ibanez AM93 or any other Artcore instruments.

I have over 80 guitars in my collection and just got this guitar in.
To begin, the guitar lists for $826.65, not $599.99; that is the price just
about every online retailer is selling the guitar for, so a price of $550.00
is about the best deal your going to get right now.
I payed the $599.99 so that I could break it up into four payments, which is what
I do in most cases.
This is a great player no matter what level you are at, and is a luxury for a beginner.
The workmanship is flawless, and is typical of what is coming out of China, Korea, and
Indonesia.
I will not bore you with repeating what another reviewer has already said about neck, pickups, etc.
The fret finish is good, without any finger rash, and the guitar is easy to play and sounds great.
The only semi-hollow guitars I have to compare this guitar to are 4 Epiphones; a BB King, a Dot,
a Casino, and an ES 339 which this guitar comes closest to, but I like this guitar over all four.
The AM93AYS is like a chameleon, taking on solid body to archtop quality sounds.

The AM93 is a beautiful guitar, super finish, nice binding, stunning quilting in the maple. Mine however, had some slight notchs, across a couple of frets that were really noticeable when string bending, In.general all the frets were pretty rough. and there were some high frets in the upper register. A pro fret leveling, crowning and polish was needed to get the frets in acceptable condition. I elected not to spend the extra money for have that work done and returned the guitar for a refund. Geartree Music, who was the seller, were great, as I was able to speak to them in person via telephone and explain the issues with the fret work. They even offered to pick up the return shipping tab. I'd refer anyone to them.

I have been playing rock and blues for over 30 years. I have owned and still own some fabulous guitars. I currently own American Deluxe Fenders (Tele and Strat) and 2 Gibson Les Pauls in addition to Taylor, Martin, Breedlover and Ovation acoustics. This Ibanez is by far the least expensive guitar I own. However, it plays like silk, has flawless fret work, a gorgeous finish and the most buttery, bluesy tone I have ever heard through my amps. Clean it has a nice jazz flavor. I wanted it because I had no semi hollows and wanted one especially for playing blues. I have no doubt that it will handle any style of music as well as my preferred blues/rock. I would buy this guitar in a heartbeat again. It is as good or better than anything else I own. Ibanez did a great job on the pups as they sound like the Gibson humbuckers found on the 50's models that are so highly prized. The only reason I did not give this guitar 5 stars is I wish it had come with strap locks. Other than that I would put this up against ANYTHING made by PRS, Fender and Gibson at any price it is that good!
