Overall a very good buy for a young guitarist.
Good: slim, fast neck. Decent pickups, good fretwork, overall very playable setup out of the box.
Bad: tuners are only 14:1
I bought this for my sons 10th birthday, it's a significant upgrade from his $99 Squire Mini Strat with noisy pickups and BAD tuners.
These tuners ARE usable, they just require a steady hand to tune exactly to pitch without overshooting.
Since my son bought his own first guitar and eventually bought himself upgraded tuners, stuck with lessons and learned several songs via YouTube I felt safe upgrading this guitar right from the start. I easily swapped in some 18:1 locking tuners from Guitar Fetish for $24. Note that this guitar uses standard 10mm tuners unlike the Mini Strat that uses 9mm vintage sized tuners. The humbuckers were also an easy swap out & the internal wiring and solder work looked clean & professional. Factory pots are small, but noise free and turn easily, toggle switch is also good. No hum or noise at all with this guitar. Bridge is good, fully adjustable string thru body style. Oddly, it came set up with the height the same for all six strings rather than following the curvature of the fret board, easily fixed with a 1.5mm Allen wrench. The nut was set up just fine. I put Ernie Ball 10-52 strings on and made minor adjustments for intonation and it plays GREAT. Size wise, this 22in scale neck should last him for a few years before he moves on to a 24-3/4" scale Les Paul copy from somewhere like Rondo Music or Epiphone.
After shopping around for 18 months this is a great guitar for the price. It played & sounded good right out of the box. Easily upgraded if your even slightly handy.
Some competitive models:
The Mini Strat ($99) is unusable out the box.

Guitar for children or little people so if you have broad shoulders or long arms this isnt for you also where the strings are held down werent made properly so the strings kept popping out rendering the guitar unplayable and when you want to return it prepare to wait over months to get your money back and also pay to get it sent back and not be reimbursed for that
