Product Description

So, you got selected to play bass in the band? Not used to those big old heavy basses? The Ibanez GSR200 is your solution. Featuring a more compact body and smaller neck the GSR200 will go a little easier on you than some other basses. This bass doesn't skimp on tone though, it has both P-bass and J-bass style pickups. To further help the rumble in your tone Ibanez has included the PHAT-II active bass circuit. Hold down the low end of that band with the Ibanez GSR200 Bass.

This Bass is a great instrument. Like any other, you need to put proper strings on it. Crappy strings will make it sound, well like crap. The one I bought here is fine. A little polishing, new strings and Im ready to rock :)

I bought mine from eBay $129 new, free shipping. It has active pickups so there is a 9v battery in the back. The BOOM sound I really didn't like too much. Just seemed to be a little too much boom at the low end. My Peavey amp has an adjustment to add low lows to a Bass guitar if needed. So I really didn't care too much for it. The single bridge pickup is kinda noisy, but then again a lot of pickups of that type have some noise. The GSR200 is a good player. After doing a setup. And again, when buying any guitar unless its from a guitar music store a setup is needed. Factory setups are ok, but I found that any setup on a guitar is not set to your own needs. Action might be too high, Pickups might be too low or high. Trussrod might be need adjustment, might have fret buzzing. And if the strings are not noted as a brand name, they get changed as well. I did a full setup on mine. Ernie Ball Supper Slinky Bass strings. The Trussrod cover is a nice touch with it being able to slide open. Now this Bass is not a high end Bass. Its more like a beginner or a kickin' around Bass. And for $199 you get what you pay for. You can use this Bass guitar if your in a band and just need a cheap Bass guitar. The tones are good and will work with different types of music. I have my keeper guitars and my flip guitars. Flip guitars are the ones that are good guitars that I buy off of eBay to sell, hence the word (flip). I flipped mine and got $200 for it. So its not a bad Bass guitar at all. Just needs to have a good setup done and string change. This Bass looks very good with the transparent color and being able to see the wood grain. Over all its a good player..

Not a bad bass for the money. I set up the intonation and did minor fret work and it plays well. My little brother loves it.

A cheap bass is exactly what it is. Fret buzzing abounds and the hardware is questionable at best. Let the buyer beware with this mediocre offering from Ibanez. All in all, a very disappointing piece of equipment from a company that has been around for years now. They should be able to make an inexpensive starter bass that delivers decent quality at a low cost, but I guess that's not in their best interest. I would highly recommend that you save up a few more dollars and go for something better than this. I regret my purchase each and every time the strings vibrate against the frets.
