I bought one of these for my first acoustic guitar. I played it for three years until I bought a Martin, and let's be honest, the Martin sounds way better. However, this guitar sounds as good as any non Martin I have played. I liked it so much I looked and looked and finally found and bought a second one to play. The sound is fantastic, just like the first. You have to lower the action on these guitars but if you can rub sandpaper that's about as tough as it gets. It will play beautifully for you. Interestingly enough, the second one, a J50JP has a nicer, shallower neck than the J50JPM. The neck is just like the Martin's so it is very easy to play.

In a nutshell, if you have this guitar you will LOVE it. I like it so much I came here to Amazon to post this review!

Rock on!

I've been playing guitar for about 40 years. I didn't feel like paying a fortune for a new one. I'm not a professional, I just love to play. I played a Guild D-25 for thirty something years, but I dropped it one too many times. It would have cost me a bundle to fix. I happened to pick this up in Sam Ash and it felt good. I've only had it for a few days and I love it. Other guitar players who have played it can't believe it only cost me $100. It doesn't feel or sound like a toy which is what I was expecting. It feels real and sounds great. It's real purty too. I played it, two guys I work with who play in bands played it as well. We all agreed it's a great guitar. One of these guys is even buying one for himself.... AS for me... Yahoo!! I'm playin' again!!!

I finally bought this guitar after reading all the reviews,as well as researching acoustic packs and entry level acoustic guitars that were 50-200 dollar range with a truss rod.I couldn't be happier with this guitar.

I am an adult beginner 46 I tried this guitar out in a Sam Ash then went online and bought it.The store was sold out. Everything anyone read's in the reviews for this guitar are right it is that good. Mine was ready to play out of the box with a few minor tuning adjustments I was playing and happy. The neck is great not fat just right, frets are fine not sharp no bow in neck, very comfortable neck. It does stay in tune and has a beautiful finish on it I am also still using the stock strings for now and it sounds really good not tinny like real cheap guitars or toy guitars. This is a real guitar it has a Ivorex 2 saddle and nut not cheap plastic ones you see.It does have a laminated spruce top not that that's a bad thing.

It also has steel frets not brass a real rosewood fretboard and bridge. The tuner works good(don't know what the other review was talking about mine works fine and it is accurate)The strap is small give it too a kid or teen useless for an adult. The gig bag is ok till you can get a good one but isn't the best. The accessory pouch is nice and where I found the instruction manual for the guitar that tells you how to set up the guitar and care for it.

Very good for people who need to set there's up. This is the second Ibanez I have bought online and both guitars were playable out of the box(other is an Ibanez mikro rg)quality is very good. For a beginner guitar or starter pack this has to be the best one for your money out there. It also comes with an extra saddle and string pin both Ivorex 2.

I have a Martin. I bought this one for my daughter who is learning to play. I took it out of the package and tuned it and couldn't believe how NICE it sounded!!! I spent $200 on a Fender for my other daughter and even after changing the strings it still doesn't sound near as good as this Ibanez. I've already recommended to several friends learning to play. Again, it's not a Martin, but I'm super impressed! Great guitar for the money!

I just got this thing in today, and it took me about 2 hours to tune it up. the tuner is not the one in the picture, it's much much more simplistic then they show. It's basically got the 5 notes and a green light to indicate when you have it tuned right. The guitar bag isn't that great either, but it'll work for now. the guitar itself isn't too bad, although this tuner will make you think that it won't hold a tune (actually I don't know i haven't gotten down into the guitar itself yet to play it, just tuned it) but by the time you're done with one string and move on to the next you'll have to redo the first one after you did the third, at least according to the tuner. to me I don't hear a difference when I go back so I'm thinking it's the tuner's problem. in the accessory bag all that came with it was the tuner, an alan wrench, and the strap so it's pretty worthless right now. But the guitar itself is worth the buy, you won't find another one nicer then this for 100 bucks.

I bought this guitar about three years ago and began to teach myself how to play. I just recently read up on how to set up a guitar the right way and it made a big difference in sound and playability. It was pretty good before but after setting it up I find it much easier to play. The sound is certainly good for a $100 guitar. It has a few dings and dents now but I plan on keeping it for years to come although I do want to buy myself a more expensive guitar now that I can actually play a thing or two. I think it was a great buy and a good choice for my first guitar.
