This game is AWESOME!,

We are not heavy gamers but this game was a BLAST for myself and my kids ages 10 & 16 (both are girls). The graphics are great and the game itself was a lot of fun. I'm not sure if a teenage gamer would enjoy it but for us the difficulty was just enough to keep us locked in (we had to look online about 3 times for help). We were sad when we made it to the end!

A Little Hard For Kids,

I bought this for my 10 and 4 yr old boys and it really has not held their interest. It uses the nunchuck remote, and is only 1 player. Scrat runs around collecting acorns and things, etc etc. My 4 yr old is able to steer scrat and even able to get him to swim (which is a little hard), but the boys just think it is boring. The mini-games I think we have to unlock. The manual does not tell you a whole lot of info. It is a game where you have to get to the end, and they just aren't into that yet..but if your child IS into that..this is really cute! The graphics are excellent and they have the same voices.

This game was fun for my kids. It kept them busy for hours when it rained keeping them out of my hair. This is a game made mainly for kids not experience - hard core gamers...

Doesn't Require "Cheat" Book To Solve!,

This is not for hard-core gamers but, as an adult who enjoys light game play (i.e. I have a busy life and can't dedicate long hours to working through tough parts) , I think Ice Age 2 for the Wii is an ideal level of difficulty and gives just enough positive reinforcement at the right times to keep me "sucked in" to the game! IMO, great for grade-school age and up (maybe a little too tough for younger kids). A nice combination of dexterity and strategy/thought are required for success. Best of all, the more difficult parts of the game are solvable without purchasing a solution book. I also agree with two other reviewers in the following respects: (1) Not much info is contained in the instruction booklet. But nothing more is needed. You simply need to hook up the nunchuk and start playing. (2) Except for the mini-games, the control is largely via the "joystick"-like button on the nunchuk, which makes directing little Scrat around a bit like playing on other consoles rather than the usual Wii-type control (i.e. point the control at the screen and move it around). I loved this game-- my husband got annoyed that I became addicted to it (he got sick of the background music on the "pause" screen needed for my frequent pauses to tend to our baby), and the game never frustrated me enough that I got tired of devoting time trying to work through the difficult parts.

A good kid's game, but not so good controls,

This game is based on the 'ice age' movie (features voice from original actors too). You play the 'squirrel-like' character, Scrat, and go through many areas of frozen ice, forests, mud swamps, volcanoes and glaciers collecting nuts. It involves running, jumping, climbing walls, swinging on vines, fighting some 'angry creatures', diving through water etc. There are also several mini-games (not a lot of them), but with varying themes and motion-controls.
The game is more for a fun experience than for challenge (for experienced platform gamers). You just enjoy going through those beautiful landscapes collecting nuts and playing the mini games. The sceneries are very pretty and the cut scences are nice (dvd quality on the wii). - The controls for moving Scrat are not that good. There is not much intuitive motion controls there like in the mini games. You just push buttons for a lot of movements. - You can only save the games in A,B or C options; you cannot save by your name. It seems such an easy thing to include - kids like personalizing their game. -I was disappointed that you can't play the mini games alone even after completing the game. You have to go through the game again to do that (too boring). One solution is to 'save' the game at points where the minigames start and load them whenever you want to play a minigame. There are only three slots for saving the game though :( Overall, it is a game for fun and enjoying with family. I got in in marketplace for less than $20, and I know my son would play it for quiet a while - so, no complaints.

While the box says it's for 3+ years of age, ha! It is tough to figure out how to maneuver the controls. I would not recommend this game for kids under 6 years old. The graphics are great and it's creative, but for older kids.

This has been one of our favorite games for the Wii, as a family game played mostly by our then 4 year old (with assistance from us), who still likes to revisit it on occasion. He's 6 now and is playing it again today. There are still some parts he has a little trouble with, so that keeps it interesting. I do wish they had a way you could play the mini-games again without playing through the levels to get tot them, because some of them are a lot of fun (penguin bowling and the one where Sid slides down trying to avoid the chunks of ice). We have quite a few games based on animated movies, but this one has been the best we played. Most of the others have major flaws, like being hard to control the characters or just being boring or awkward to play. We are hoping the Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs will be fun too. Experienced and older gamers will probably not like this game, but we have had a blast with it!

I can't remember why I bought this...I think it looked cute, and was inexpensive, and I had just purchased a Wii, so I was excited to build up collection of games. When it came in, I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun this game was. The graphics are great, and the game play is smooth. Great for kids, or those who are young at heart!

Love this game. I bought 4 games at one time and after trying them all this DVD is the one that remains in the Wii when it's off. The other will get their time but this game is so much fun that we'll finish this first. My sister really loves it, kids that come visit love playing it. Even my parents like watching us play. It's not a hard game to play; you don't have to be a seasoned gamer to play this. But you'll have so much fun playing this game. And playing as Scrat is just hilarious.
