3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting to read, but several factual errors throughout., February 7, 1999
This review is from: Ice Ages: Past and Future (Paperback)
This is a very interesting book written at a popular level about ice ages and related topics. Unfortunately I found several factual errors. As just one example, the appendix says that iridium is a "rare isotope of platnium"; it isn't, they are separate elements. I found several other errors relating to physics and astronomy (my background), which makes me question the accuracy of the geophysics and geology statements in the book. On the other hand, the author has a very enjoyable reading style, and if you simply wish for a broad overview of the subject without caring if all the details are accurate, then this is a good book. But I recommend this book with reservations because I feel a science book should take more care in its details.
