2-1/2 stars -- Like real ice cream, this is cold,

The first time I heard of the Johnson Sisters was when they were backing up a song on George Duke's 2000 album Cool, and by doing that they almost ruined the song. But somewhere along the line they became R. Kelly's new prot?g?es, and they soon started backing up Isley Brothers' songs. Now the ladies come at us with their own album, Ice Cream. This album really isn't very interesting. Those who called them a reheated Changing Faces weren't far off, because it seems like Rrah is trying that same formula out on them -- but this time it doesn't work. There ARE some tolerable songs like "Right Here With Me" and possibly "Love Angel". But the rest of the songs have very trite lyrics, like the revengeful "Half", the sleepy "Stay", and the generic party joint, "Baby, Come On". And unlike most reviewers, I never liked the title track. Another annoying thing is that R. Kelly is all over this album, unsurprisingly making it seem like R. Kelly featuring JS rather than just JS (for more examples of this, see Aaliyah's Age Ain't Nothing But a Number or The Isley Brothers' Body Kiss). This is especially obvious in the unlistenable remix of the title track, which is in the MIDDLE of the album for some reason (and why does R. Kelly shout-out to Ron Isley at the end? He isn't even in that song.). Speaking of Ron, apparently since JS appeared on the Isleys' horrible song "Busted", he decided to return the favor by contributing to the already questionable "Handle Your Business". It's also kind of hard to enjoy these songs sometimes because the titles run into each other ("Stay", "Stay Right Here", "Right Here With Me"). But basically, this album is nothing special. And no offense, but whoever called JS "the next Aaliyah" needs to listen to this album more closely. I don't think I'll be having another taste of this ice cream. Anthony Rupert

Your opinions may vary...,

I'm not going to lie to you. Although the sistas CAN BLOW, I bought this cd after watching the 'Love Angel' video because quite frankly, THEY ARE FINE!! That said, just about every review written has been accurate. Yes, the songwriting and the music uses a lot of same predictable cliches used in r&b/hip-hop. Yes, it seems like R. Kelly is doing a P. Diddy impression by cameoing on some of the cuts. R. Kelly is definitely biting the new and improved Changing Faces thing. Nevertheless, if you like your female r&b/hip-hop artists to have eye AND ear appeal, you might dig this disc. BUT IF I WERE YOU, I WOULDN'T EXPECT ANYTHING MORE THAN THAT.

Average,

JS have good Voices for the Background&are fine looking Sisters but for a whole album is a bit much.I think if you trimmed off 5-6 songs this set would have been better.R.Kelly the King of R&B wrote&produced 8 tracks.the title track is catchy but my favorite track on this set is "Baby,Come On".JS sound good backing R.Kelly&THe Isley brothers but out front is a bit much.Vocally on a whole they are a notch beneath what R was able to do with Changing Faces&also JS vocally remind me of Brandy.I think they have a Chance with more Up-Tempo Cuts overall.right now I was mainly interested in there Album because of what R.Kelly was bringing to the Table but hopefully they can Improve on this the next time where they match the Talents of the Writer&producer."Ice Cream" is a Cool Cut&the Video is nice.ROnald Isley aka Mr.Biggs driving the Ice Cream Truck is Classic.

JS - Ice Cream,

As We Know JS Were Taken Under The Wing Of None Other Than R.Kelly...When I First Heard JS Sing "Stay Right Here" I Could Have Sworn It Was R.Kelly's Past Female Group Changing Faces, Kelly Stuck To The Same Formula As Changing Faces When He Worked On JS's Debut Album Ice Cream...Although These Girls Obviously Have Great Voices, I Could Have Picked Up The First CF Album And Gotten The Same Songs...But Moving On...Kandi & Kim Sound Much Better Over A Slow, Mellow Track Than Than They Do On Tracks Such As "Ice Cream" I Recommend You Try "Sister" Or "Stay Right Here" If You Have Yet To Hear JS

The Johnson Sisters have light airy vocal skills that work on a few tracks however the annoying shout-outs by R. Kelly weren't necessary. Two of the tracks Kelly wrote for the ladies are strong and make excellent use of their voices but there really aren't enough strong tracks to recommend anyone buying this entire cd.
Frankly the only tracks that stood out to me are: LOVE ANGEL, ICE CREAM & STAY RIGHT HERE & RIGHT HERE WITH ME.

The ladies of JS have nice, serene voices, but everything on the cd sounds the exact same for some unknown reason. I'm not saying it isn't good to listen to. You can just about tell what the content of the songs are and how the beats are.
The best songs are Stay Right Here, Love Angel, and the title track, Ice Cream. I don't like the remix because of R. Kelly constantly yelling in the background. Plus it is poorly placed in the middle of the album four songs after the original. Maybe on their next attempt, the sisters will be able to come up with something a little bit better.

This album is the bomb,a little on the freaky side(R.Kelly, enough said)but great, it does not take too long to get used to,you can pop it in and let er' rip,This album shouldv'e did alot better than it did, but there was a lack of promotion, these girls have easy to listen to voices somewhat familiar sounding though.JS is R.kelly's new Changing faces but much hotter in lyrics and vocals. This is a worth buying cd it's worth every penny.

Since we're talking about ice cream, JS is the flava of the month. Whether or not they'll be around next year, we'll have to wait and see.
