This review is from: Ice Cream for All Seasons (Paperback)
Ice Cream for All Seasons will definitely be on my shopping list this holiday season. It contains wonderful, simple recipes for everyone's favorite frozen treat. With a few nuts, fruits, sugar, a variety of milk products, you can create memorable, tasty treats to match anyone's palate. The book contains colorful pictures, and is divided by seasons. It walks one through the year to use the bounty of fruits and foods available for each part of the year. I tried the cranberry sorbet and it will become a regular treat for my family. Ice Cream for All Seasons makes a great accompaniment for an ice cream freezer as a fun, usable wedding or birthday gift.

There is one major drawback which prevents me from recommending this book. Recipes call for uncooked eggs. Many call for 3 or more eggs or egg yolks. Salmonella is a real concern, especially for the young, elderly, and immune impaired individuals. The authors do not mention this potential hazard. They should offer a cooked egg alternative for those who are concerned.
I received this book and an ice cream maker as gifts. I plan to make the basic vanilla and chocolate cooked ice cream recipes included in the ice cream maker's instruction booklet, and use this book for ideas on adding ingredients to create flavored ice creams.

5.0 out of 5 stars NO TIME OVER THE STOVE .........., May 31, 2000
This review is from: Ice Cream for All Seasons (Paperback)
This Ice Cream book is what summer is all about. Most recipies require no cooking time over the stove and waiting for the mixture to chill, you get out your blender and Ice Cream maker and in 20 minutes you have Ice Cream. It doesn't get any better than this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great collection of ice cream favorites, August 31, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Ice Cream for All Seasons (Paperback)
... It was so easy to follow, comprehensive, and complete that I had to buy it. It contains all of our favorite flavors like pumpkin, rum raisin, and green tea ice cream. I love the quick egg nog recipe. In addition it has two basic "create your own flavor" recipes. The raw eggs were a concern for my family--but i just substituted "egg beaters" or some other pasturized egg product for the egg yolks--every recipe has come out perfect so far. This is a keeper. ...
