I personally did not care for this book. I found better recipes on the Internet. This is just my opinion. I'm sure others would find it helpful. I'm keeping this book just in case I change my mind and adding it to my recipe books to save the return shipping fees. :o)

This is an excellent book. With just over 50 recipes, I have found it far more useful than the ones with hundreds of choices. Not only is there a great variety here, but unlike other ice cream books I've read, Pappas gives serving suggestions for her ice creams that are invariably right on. The first recipe I made, Grand Marnier Ice Cream, is still my favorite, and paired with chocolate cake or cupcakes, as Pappas suggests, makes the perfect combination. Many of the ice cream recipes use egg yokes, but some don't, like the Bluberry Ice Cream, which is my 2nd favorite. She often gives a choice to use either milk or half and half, which allows you to cut down on the fat if you want to. I've gotten better results with half and half, but either works well.

This is a great book for the beginning ice cream maker. I like that the differences between the range of frozen confections are explained and techniques to make them are included. A few of the recipes are similar and just vary on the add-ins, but there are some really interesting ones, such as lavendar and honey ice cream or rosemary-lemon ice or espresso granita. Every recipe I've tried has yielded fabulous results. And the photographs are absolutely beautiful.
