The Ice King is a delightful read for anyone interested in an important, but lost part of American history. The story of the ups and downs of the ice business are in many ways similar to other American industries, but there are no physical remnants to be seen in American cities. The book is a good starting point for historical research on a middle or high school level.

Excellent book by Carl Seaburg. Any books written by Carl and/or Alan Seaburg are wonderful trips into the past. Other books have awesome illustrations by Thomas Dahill.The Ice King: Frederic Tudor and His Circle (Maritime)
