5.0 out of 5 stars Makes learning science a fun experience for young children!
I came across The Cat in the Hat's Learning Library series of books during my daughter's school's book fair recently and was captivated by the content and the vivid visuals. I thought I'd purchase two books in the series to see if my daughter would be interested and engaged. 2.0 out of 5 stars Obvious errors make this a poor choice for teaching kids
This volume contains errors that make it a poor choice for teaching children. The book states that there are eight continents. There are seven. It says that a polar bear's hide is made up of hairs. Hide is skin, not fur. Given the number of accurate science books for kids, there's no reason to buy one like this that is compromised by such shoddy fact-checking and editing.

This review is from: Ice Is Nice!: All About the North and South Poles (Cat in the Hat's Learning Library) (Hardcover)
I came across The Cat in the Hat's Learning Library series of books during my daughter's school's book fair recently and was captivated by the content and the vivid visuals. I thought I'd purchase two books in the series to see if my daughter would be interested and engaged. I had been looking for suitable science-themed books for her age level and these seemed to fit the bill.

To my delight, she loved the books. The presentation is kid-friendly, with content spread out over the pages, lots of illustrations, and small chunks of information which do not overwhelm. The characters from the PBS series populate the pages and go on these amazing adventures, and young readers get the feeling that they're going along on the ride! In "Ice is Nice", the book explains information about the North and South Poles. In addition, there is a glossary and index and also suggestions for further reading. This is an excellent book to motivate young children's interest in science!
