Huge risks. Huge rewards.
HISTORY continues its huge success story with SEASON FIVE of ICE ROAD TRUCKERS. For two months every year, truckers on the world's most dangerous tundra make history by hauling vital equipment to remote outposts hundreds of miles north of civilization - over roads briefly built by frozen bodies of water. Hugh, Alex, Lisa and Jack race against time, the elements and each other to transport thousands of loads before the road literally disappears into the sea. This groundbreaking series continues to examine a time-honored profession that dates back almost a century, often through generations of families.

The 16 episodes that comprise this 4 disc set bring you the latest antics of Hugh, Alex, Lisa and Rick as well as many others in the profession. If you like the show, obviously this is an easy recommendation. My personal thought is that we've pretty much covered every topic conceivable in the last five seasons and I'm not as enthusiastic about the show as I was several years ago. I'm obviously in the minority, however, as viewership when it aired on History rose 30% between the fourth and fifth seasons. And am I the only one that gets exhausted by narrator Thom Beers?
Here's a break-down of the episodes: The product description proclaims that there are 15 episodes, but there are 16 in total for the season.

I'm a big fan of Alex. He always has a gentle side to him, even rescuing the SAME trucker in one season, who had been talking bad about him, and even delaying his run and losing money to save the life of a wounded man in a car crash. I hope he keeps on trucking and decides not to retire soon, unless his health gets worse like in Season 2, and I wish him plenty of happy years ahead with his wife and considerably large family. God bless you, Alex!
I've always admired Lisa, trucking ahead as one of the only women heavy-hauling drivers in a man's world, and very glad to see her in this season after I just finished seeing her work in India. Great job, Lisa! She has nothing further to prove to anyone in my opinion, being the only driver left to finish hauling a critical load at the end of the season in India when the other two drivers bugged out, and keeping a positive attitude on the ice roads everywhere while continuing to ask for more dangerous loads. How can anyone criticize her when they can't even do HER job? Keep trucking, Lisa!
This season rocks, and I'm looking forward to the sixth one. Might even pre-order it!
*Follow up* I have watched this season several times, allowing me to get a good opinion on it so far.

After seeing earlier seasons, it is getting a little tired. The bullying of Hugh Roland is totally unnecessary to the story.Published 10 months ago by G. W. Mullins
