The New Black (Token),
By
This review is from: Ice (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
A life of crime and drugs is the way of Black, and his brother E-Double. Being conservative in his mannerisms, compassionate, and if times call to be ruthless, Black still has a vision to bring down a heartless druglord name Ice, that's now ruling the city of Elizabeth, NJ. Black recruits his cousin name Woo, and his childhood friends whom they soon become the Eastwick Hustlers. Ice being heartless and ruthless rules the Port Au Posse Prince and the drug game with an iron fist. A bloody war is about to break out while the Eastwick Hustlers and the Port Au Posse fight for territory. Crooked cops and politicians hold the court to who will reign, but also holds the key to who will get the final downfall.
The book of Ice is a tale of power, greed, lust, loyalty, and even family values. This book moved fast, the plot was good, and the characters stood out. The story has been told before about the struggle between two druglords, but I think what makes this story unique is the message some of the characters portray about education, doing what's right, and forgiveness makes this book a lasting impression. The final showdown between Black and Ice could have been more thought out, but the author did try to step out the box and make some of his characters unique, although the author did go over the top with the religious voodoo. I would caution the author that there's a fine line to draw on how to write the believable and unbelievable and on that note the ending for some may leave somewhat of an unbelievable impression. This book offers a great deal of violence, but it is balanced out with humor. For it to be the author's first read I commend him on trying to step out of the box and keeping his readers intrigued. If you like to read shocking action, druglords, and shady cops and politicians, the book of Ice will make it a worthwhile read. *4.5 Stars on a job well done.*

I loved this book, this is one of those books you keep and read again, it was exciting from beginning to end. This story is about hustler vs. hustler, crooked politicians, corrupt police and a DEA agent that are against each other. Its the Port Au Prince Posse against the Eastwick Hustlers. Black was the leader of the Eastwick Hustlers he was my favorite character even through he was young he had a head on his shoulders and looked out for his family. Ice was the leader of PAPP and he was a cold blooded killer that didn't trust anyone he was just evil, but like the saying goes Karma is a b**ch. Get this book you won't be disappointed. I hope Mr. Robbins he is in the process of writing another exciting book I can't wait.

Before I write this review let me give Will "Half & Half" Robbins props for a
head bager of a book that was colder then a block of dry ice.I was starting to lose my faith with Triple Crown Publications because of all the week material they have released over the last couple of years, but with the release of ICE my faith & love for Triple Crown was restored a little bit.ICE is a well written book with a decent story line & great character development. To me the best part of this book is the author himself,Will Robbins definitely knows how to write a book that will keep you interested from start to finish. There are over a dozen main characters in this book which is a large amount but Will Robbins writing style is so on point you dont have a problem keeping up with all the characters, the story line or the plot. The title character in this book is ICE who is colder then the dark side of the moon,he is a ruthless drug lord who only cares about himself & his blood money. He makes Neno Brown from New Jack City look like a snot nose cubscout.Next in line is Black who is also a drug dealer who cares for his people & has mad love for the hood. Now as good as this book is there are a few negative things to talk about, the voodoo priest by the name of "Dunois Dubois" is first in line. It's bad enough that I could not pronounce this guys name but the things he was doing in this book where way beyond unbelievable, from pulling a mans heart out of his chest to making a mans eyeballs come flying out of his head.As for ICE with all the hell he raised, the pain & suffering that he caused in the hood he got off way to easy for all the people & lives he destroyed. Also the ending of this book was very disappointing & should have been much better.I would highly recomend this book to people who are into hood books & street fiction and I'm looking forward to the next hot joint from Will "Half & Half Robbins"

Snub from the heart,
By
This review is from: Ice (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
Every time I read a Triple Crown Publication (TCP) it reminds me that the situations in each book are being lived right here in my community of Chicago. Most times behind the curtains spilling into societal norms. The characters are the same but the level of passion and the values shared by this group makes the difference.
Mr. Robbins story puts the reader on stage with two of New Jersey's top drug kings. Ice and his Port Au Posse alongside Black and his Eastwick Hustlers fighting the same war for different reasons; one to remain in power and the other to get enough power so he can walk away. Both gangs have power and respect however only one can rule the streets of Elizabeth. Ice is as cold as he is violent. Black on the other hand is ruthless and can take care of his own. For Black the streets are only an end to a means, unlike his brother E. Double who lives for the game, the status and of course the money he believes the street are ingrained in his soul. Most people in the "hood" have an axe to grind with Ice fortunately for him his reputation, connections and power has kept his enemies at bay. That is until, a few corrupt police officers; politicians and a host of others decide that his reign must end. Life releases a balance of fair and unfair acts into our world which is based on how we have lived; "what goes around, comes around." The .38 snub nose six shooter that killed Ice belonged to neither the cops, politicians nor a gang member, it came from the most shocking place of all. Icewas a very enjoyable read I found myself on the streets of Elizabeth, New Jersey watching the characters interact with one another. Character after character toyed with my heart. The glamour of street life and the code of honor Black, Ice, Woo and the rest of the players have are commendable. The streets of Elizabeth New Jersey are easily my streets here in Chi-town, because I'm able to identify and I know many people in my neighborhood portrayed as many characters in Ice. Not Just Your Typical Street Lit,
By Tawanna "Sugar & Spice Diva" (Queens) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ice (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
So when i first picked up this book and started reading it, I thought it was going to be your typical "Drug Dealer" book with the routine dealers, loose women and fast cars. After reading a few chapters, I was relieved to find an interesting story line with some intriguing characters. I found myself attached to Black, even though he was a big time drug dealer. The author choose to show that not all dealers are about just the money. Some sell drugs as a means to an end, not just a means to get paid. I say job well done to Will Robbins! I really enjoyed the the story line and thought the story flowed nicely. If you want to read a story about the street with some reality checks intertwined, please pick up ICE!

Ice by Will "Half & Half" Robbins was a very engaging and interesting read. Being an avid reader I wanted to open up my selections so I read this one just because I was asked to. I am glad I did. This book is filled with hard knocks, the street life, pains, hurts, wants, power and humor. I could "see" it as I read it.
Mr. Robbins did an exceptional job of telling some gritty, hard stories of people growing up in Elizabeth, New Jersey in an engagingly interesting and even funny manner. These are tales of people that do what they feel they have to do until you can do better; those choosing live the drug life and of those that want power are fast hitting, dangerous, drama filled and sad but there is triumph as well. I enjoyed this book tremendously and am waiting on his next one.

Voodoo in the Hood,
By
This review is from: Ice (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
On the streets of Elizabeth, New Jersey, Black and E-Double, brothers, are sick and tired of working for Ice and under the Port Au Prince Posse. Black and E-Double decide to break away from Ice and form their own group, dubbed the Eastwick Hustlers. They start making plans to knock off Ice and his crew. Unfortunately when Ice hears about this new alliance that was formed against him he is determined to get at each one of them before he can be touched.
When Black meets a beautiful and intelligent woman he falls in love for the first time. She seems to be offering him so much more and something different than the drug game. The question is will he let love conquer or will he stay in the streets? Which crew will be the victor in taking over the streets? ICE by Will Robbins was a typical Triple Crown Publications novel. You know the type of novel I am talking about, it has a notorious drug dealer, crooked cops and politicians, undercover police and of course what hood novel is not complete without a snitch in the mix. It was a little irritating that Mr. Robbins felt a need to describe in detail every single character that seemed to grace the pages, even those that were just a fleeting character that walked by...it was irrelevant to the story. There were also quite a few editing issues. The thing that really got me about this story is that Mr.Robbins was really reaching or trying too hard when he mentioned the voodoo practioner, that seemed to be Ice's right hand man. First, I do not feel like it was relevant in this story and second, most of the things that the voodoo practioner did were totally unbelievable. This part of the story just did not fit within this story. Now I will say that although I did not care for this particular novel, I feel that Mr. Robbins definitely knows how to tell a story and I do look forward to reading something different from him. A top pick for those who enjoy gang fiction,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews

In the drug game, there are no rules for dealing with competition. "ICE" is a novel of the criminal underground of Elizabeth, New Jersey. Black and E-Double leave their former leader Ice to form their own take on the business, only to find blood as his severance package. Even as a gang war erupts, Black may see a chance to leave it all, but war still rages from all sides, even from the supposed law. "ICE" is a top pick for those who enjoy gang fiction.

First Urban Fiction read! Great start!,
By Great book! "Bookworm" (Ohio, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ice (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
As a new reader of Urban Fiction, I am really glad I started out with Ice! The characters definitely drive this one for me. There are a lot of them, but with nicknames like Ice, Woo and Booga, they grow on you fast. I knew I was hooked when I started reading faster to make sure my favorite characters made it out of the fight scenes intact (not always the case, but I am an optimist). The action in this book is crazy! You got the Eastwick Hustlers going up against Ice, one hell-bent detective against them both, and all sorts of vendettas going around. And to add to the mix, you got a little love story with Black - the main Eastwick Hustler. I also found myself laughing at odd parts of this book. All in all, it was a great read. If you want to follow some of the most original characters in a story that will make you laugh and keep you turning pages, Ice is for you!
