Lauren Chattman, a trained pastry chef, is the author of Icebox Desserts, Icebox Pies, Mom's Big Book of Cookies, and Mom's Big Book of Baking. A former pastry chef, Lauren Chattman is the author of nine cookbooks and co-author of numerous other books, including Dessert University with former White House pastry chef Roland Mesnier. Her recipes have appeared in Food & Wine, Bon Appetit, Cook's Illustrated, The New York Times, and Redbook, among others. She lives in Sag Harbor, New York with her husband and two daughters.

This book is good in term of simplicity. But there's one big problem (for me). Most of the recipes in this book don't have any picture. You might have no idea what the final product should look like. I think that's kinda bad because one picture for one recipe should be the minimum requirement for a cook book!!!

Deserving of ongoing mention is a winning gathering of no-bake desserts perfect for busy cooks who wish to impress. Some fifty no-bake recipes for ice cream cakes, mousses, cheesecakes and more are fast and quick to put together in a title packed with color photos. Any library with a strong general dessert cookbook section will find this an eye-catching winner.

All of the receipes in this book are so easy to make. They are delicious, and if you bring one of these cakes to a party you will be a hit.

I made the Winter Pudding Cake. I had no cake pans so had to buy some. I bought 8 pans and only made one cake. What can I say I got carried away. The ingredients were all in the grocery store. I used Sara Lee Pound Cake rather than to bake one. The cake was not only delicious but pretty. My guests loved it. They started out saying they were only going to eat just one sliver of a slice. By the time our get together was over the whole cake was gone. Total success.
