Nice change from synthetics and blends

Icebreaker's Anatomica Leggings are a fine base layer when you're more focused on comfort than on tip-top technical functionality. They are warm yet breathe well, feel nice next to skin without any itchiness even after they get wet, and don't become rank smelling like synthetics. The machine washable wool fabric is roughly the same thickness as the nylon material used for basic Nike Dri-Fit t-shirts (the Anatomicas are the thinnest of Icebreaker's current line of mens' leggings).

The tradeoff of going 100% Merino is that these leggings are not as compressible as those made of synthetic materials or silk, don't fit quite as snugly as Lycra-blend garments, and take several hours to dry.

So for urban, cold weather resort, and weekend camping uses, the Anatomicas are a great choice. But for anything where you need super light and compressible, fast drying base layers or want the stretchiness provided by Lycra, I think synthetics are the way to go.

Four stars, keeping in mind the Anatomicas' limitations.

Seems to runs a little small

I bought these to use for sleeping pants, and also to use as a baselayer for colder outdoor runs. I'm 5'11, 165lbs, and wear size medium boxer briefs. Ordered size medium in these and they are slightly skin tight. They are also just slightly itchy, moreso than other merino wool baselayers that I have. Wish I would have ordered a large, but will make do as they do stretch out a little after a few uses.
