Book Description

June 1, 1996
Solving A Crime at A Ski Resort can be All Downhill! P.I. Regan Reilly has high hopes for her Aspen vacation. But a mystery soon has the chic detective snooping rather than skiing. Million-dollar paintings have been disappearing, and an old friend of Regan's-a folksy ex-con named Eben Bean-has vanished too. Everyone except Regan believes Eben has gone bad...again. Her hunt to find him leads away from the tourist crowd into the founding families of this former frontier town. She never expects to get in hot water with a wild and woolly seventy-something lady who has a shocking secret she'd die to keep. Or get in over her head trying to save a famous portrait a dangerous criminal would kill to steal. Now the snow is falling, the plot is thickening, and Regan is engaged in a different winter sport, one that's right up her alley-trying to catch a thief!

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

In a continuation of the Regan Reilly series, the detective's Christmas holiday in Aspen is interrupted by the theft of some high-priced paintings.
Copyright 1996 Reed Business Information, Inc.

From School Library Journal

YA?Regan Reilly, private investigator, finds mystery on her Christmas vacation in Aspen, Colorado. She wonders who is stealing the paintings from wealthy owners as she doesn't believe that it's the person the police have accused. Readers know part of the answer, but they don't learn until the climax the surprising identity of the "Coyote," who has been glimpsed throughout as he makes plans to steal from the thieves. This fun, fast-paced novel is a good choice for teens, who will enjoy the wit, the characters, and the modern setting. The text is mainly easy-to-read dialogue and there is plenty of action. Although there are many supporting characters and the chapters shift frequently between them, the plot is simple to follow as the mystery develops.?Claudia Moore, W.T. 4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining mystery, May 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Iced (Regan Reilly Mysteries, No. 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the first book I have read by Carol Higgins Clark and I really enjoyed it. Regan is a delightful character. Although Ms. Clark lets you in on some of what the "bad" guys are up to, there are still some surprises at the end!

5.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT MYSTERY! A LIGHT READ!, April 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Iced (Regan Reilly Mysteries, No. 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
I found this book to be very good. The one thing I like about Carol Higgins Clark is that her books are very good and suspensful and very simple and light to read.If you are looking for a mystery to read on a snowy night I would recommend this! Better yet if you are at a ski resourt and you are looking for a good mystery this would be a good time to read ICED!

4.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book ..., November 11, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Iced (Regan Reilly Mysteries, No. 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
Iced by Carol Higgens Clark captured my attention from the first sentence to the last. I've never read her mother's books, so I can't compare them, nor would I want to. Carol Higgens Clark has a style her own, and thank goodness for that. Her fast-paced, witty, humorous dialogue moves the story along at a rapid pace.

From this reader's viewpoint, Iced, doesn't purport itself to be anything more than it is--an entertaining, quick read, and those are hard to come by these days.
