4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining mystery
This is the first book I have read by Carol Higgins Clark and I really enjoyed it. Regan is a delightful character. Although Ms. Clark lets you in on some of what the "bad" guys are up to, there are still some surprises at the end!

2.0 out of 5 stars Like reading Nancy Drew
When I was 11 or 12, I read a ton of Hardy Boy and similar books. They were all fun reading.

I think the author is still reading them, I was waiting for good ol' Regan Reilly to ride off in her roadster.

5.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT MYSTERY! A LIGHT READ!, April 21, 1999
By A Customer
I found this book to be very good. The one thing I like about Carol Higgins Clark is that her books are very good and suspensful and very simple and light to read.If you are looking for a mystery to read on a snowy night I would recommend this! Better yet if you are at a ski resourt and you are looking for a good mystery this would be a good time to read ICED!

4.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book ..., November 11, 2003

Iced by Carol Higgens Clark captured my attention from the first sentence to the last. I've never read her mother's books, so I can't compare them, nor would I want to. Carol Higgens Clark has a style her own, and thank goodness for that. Her fast-paced, witty, humorous dialogue moves the story along at a rapid pace.

From this reader's viewpoint, Iced, doesn't purport itself to be anything more than it is--an entertaining, quick read, and those are hard to come by these days.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't compare apples and oranges!, April 26, 2005
Everyone keeps saying "She's not as good as her mother" when they refer to CHC's writing. I think that she probably isn't...yet. Remember that MHC has been writing for years. And the two types of books they write are not alike. Mary writes about complex and often mentally disturbed people who are stalking or involved with very strong, highly successful women; a different one for each book. Carol writes about one woman and her various "cases" that she works as a P.I. That means that she has to contrive the plots a certain amount. Come on folks! The cases that most PI's work involve who's cheating on who and where is so-and-so hiding. We'd all go to sleep. It's like Jessica Fletcher (Murder She Wrote) and her life. Everywhere the woman goes, a murder happens. In real life, the police would be watching her after the second one. So, in a book, you have to contrive the plot a little in order to have an interesting story about the same character over and over. And CHC does pretty well at it. I've enjoyed them all, but I think of all the ones I've read, I liked this one best. I also kind of like all the quirky characters she puts in them. Just give her a break, guys, and stop looking for Shakespeare in a mystery novel!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Another Winner, March 9, 2004

I am consistently baffled by the reviewers who would have you believe that Carol Higgins Clark is not worth reading, that she is a terrible, no-good, very bad writer. I must disagree, once again. Let us review what I've said earlier in other CHC reviews.

CHC is much like Agatha Christie inasmuch as Christie's writing was, like CHC's, formulaic and light on character development, high on plotting. CHC's plotting is ingenious. Regan Reilly is a likeable character, even if she isn't very well drawn. CHC is not trying to be James Lee Burke or Sharyn McCrumb or Sue Grafton who are very high on character development. No, CHC, I believe, doesn't want anything to take away from her story. She's telling a great one in "Iced".

In this wonderful suspense tale, Regan Reilly and her mother Nora Regan Reilly and her father Luke Reilly are all in Aspen, Colorado with some friends. They are there to enjoy the skiing and the fine dining and help Regan's friend Louis open up the Silver Mine Inn. Several valuable paintings are being swiped by who people think is Eben Bean, an ex-jewel thief. When in reality Eben has been kidnapped by the real thieves who themselves are being watched by "the Coyote", a expert art thief. There are enough twists in here to keep you guessing and enough characters so you don't get bored. Snap up a copy of CHC's "Iced", curl up under the covers at night or lounge on the couch during the day and go to Aspen with Regan.

I think these people have written very nasty reviews. Carol is not her mother. She doesn't write the same kind of books as her mother.

She has her own style & her book are all good.

Carol I think you are a good author.

I have everyone of her books & have injoyed all of them.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun read!, January 27, 2011
This review is from: Iced (Regan Reilly Mysteries, No. 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
If you want to kick back next to a roaring fire and enjoy a fun and entertaining mystery, I recommend this book. The characters are fun and lively, and the book moves along at a good pace. It's light reading at its best.

I couldn't wait to finish this book. The plot andthe dialogue was bad. I sped right thu the book after I read the first 45 pages. This book was the worse than any of the 3 books of hers I had read. This book should have beeen iced by the publisher before it was ever printed.
