5.0 out of 5 stars Highly entertaining, insightful, and quick read June 4, 2012
By Brian
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I picked up an early copy of this ebook and devoured it in less than a day. It's longer than other ebooks I've read by bloggers (read: actually book-length), but I still couldn't put it down. Colin has a writing style that makes you envy his lifestyle, enjoy his anecdotes, and question some of your own life choices. He's quickly become one of my favorite travel/philosophy writers along with Bill Bryson, Tim Ferriss, etc. I'm not saying that reading this book has made me want to leave everything behind and set off on an international vagabond lifestyle of indeterminate duration, but some of his philosophies are insightful nonetheless. Long story short, it's a really fun book that will get you thinking about mobile lifestyles, relationships, and careers. Definitely recommended for anyone infected by the travel bug who has a few hours to spare.

4.0 out of 5 stars Iceland India Interesting July 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
It's easy to be jealous of Colin Wright. One might even be tempted to utter a *pshaw* or two while reading his latest travelogue, Iceland India Interstate. It would be the easiest thing in the world to imagine a writer, sitting behind his computer screen having never set foot outside his own comfort zone, creating the character of Colin Wright so that all of us could bask in the glory of the tales that this world-trotting swashbuckler brings back to share. Its part fantasy, part travel blog, part soft-core porn, part "love story", and all the way fun. Colin is good-looking, good with the ladies, economically independant, a networking beast, friend to the rich and famous, downtrodden and sodden, and genuine in a way that is hard to accept in a man so willing to venture outside his comfort zone and to get his hands dirty. Would you spend two months sleeping next to caterwauling babies and crusty old crack heads on a bus, or let complete strangers decide what city on earth you would be spending the next four months of your life in, or risk heart-break and tragic loss just to spend one more day with that special someone, when you could clearly afford first class? Colin does all that and more, just to make his life more interesting. I wouldn't go that far, nor would the vast majority of us, which is what makes this book such a treasure...Colin ventures where we dare not and is not afraid to share (or brag, LOL). Thanks Colin!

5.0 out of 5 stars A reference guide for our generation June 15, 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
When the opening gambit of a book tells of the authors casual involvement in a threesome the night before trotting off to spend four months in Iceland, a destination chosen entirely by his blog readers, I know I'm in for a pretty good read.

To be cliche about it, I couldn't put the reading device down. Colin brings together an unusual mix of genuinely insightful information about the countries he visits, inserts hilarious, personal anecdotes at precisely the right times and then ties it all together with a unique spin on the classic boy meets girl story.

This book serves as a kind of reference guide for our generation. A generation confused by the system, disengaged with outdated politics and looking for a fresh perspective and a new way to live.

Colin is truly redefining what it means to be a "citizen of earth".

5.0 out of 5 stars Modern day travel writing at its best March 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Colin has his own unique style of mixing storytelling with musings on his own thoughts and philosophies which, in my opinion, works wonderfully.

Most books take me a little while to really get into, but Iceland India Interstate grabbed me by the **** from the get-go. Colin's colorful description of a pretty intimate scene immediately sets the tone for the personal style of the rest of the book. He takes you on an exciting adventure across Iceland, India and a road trip through the States, on Greyhound buses.

This book really gives you a sense of what it's like to travel as a minimalist. It definitely inspired me to plan my next trip, as he captures the essence of life on the road and in totally foreign cultures so well.

If you like reading travel stories, you have to get this book. Period.

Just click the 'Look Inside' button and read the intro. You'll get the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good memoir if you're into lifestyle hacking blogs... February 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I'd actually give this book 3.5 stars, but I bumped it up to 4 because it fit what I was looking for at the time perfectly. I wanted a quick and entertaining read that was a little different from run-of-the-mill travel books. Colin Wright has a very smooth writing style and, although I don't share all of his values, his adventures inspire me to pursue my own.

5.0 out of 5 stars i am so envious and so inspired by Colin Wright. December 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
A truly amazing man. He lives the life that most young people dream of and then forget upon entering adulthood. Wright is living the dream which he then scribes so that we can experience some of the world as he sees it. And he tells you how you too can live the dream. I read all of Colin's books and have learned much about the art of being alive. Thank you Colin!

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy Read November 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I've been a fan of Colin's writing for some time now. My Exile Lifestyle is still my favorite of his easy reads collection, but Iceland India Interstate is also pretty cool. I found it a little slow in parts, but the latter half more than made up for it. This book is great for anyone who dreams of a free and easy lifestyle, but for whatever reason cannot indulge in one right away. It's definitely worth a read.
