Gr. 4-7. A breezy, narrative style and well-selected color photos distinguish these two titles in the long-running Sports New Wave series. The books turn first to players' childhoods, focusing on family support, how the players discovered their talent, and how they focus their drive. Subsequent chapters follow the athletes' careers through school and into the pros. Boxed stats; sharp action photos that show the players and their teammates and coaches; pull-quotes from players and others; and insets revealing some of the players' idiosyncrasies add to the inviting format. Woven into the individual stories are side notes that place the careers in context. These biographies will widen readers' knowledge of the featured sports as well as present newcomers with a basic introduction to each player. Even fans may find something new in these solid, well-presented volumes. Gillian Engberg

Ichiro's Baseball History,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Ichiro Suzuki: Best in the West (Library Binding)
This book was very good and I learned a lot about baseball history. I read the book fast because I could not put it down it was so interesting. It was a baseball autobiography book that teaches so much about the wonderful world of baseball. This was a great style of writing. There were some surprises in the story. One was when Ichiro Suzuki joined the MLB. There were no cliffhangers through out the book. This was not a boring book at all. If you like baseball you would love this book. I would read more of this authors books so I could learn about other sports. I would recommend this book to others because they would learn about the exciting world of baseball history
