This is an excellent collection of Lynyrd Skynyrd's hits and some of their best album tracks. The sound quality is great and so is the price for a 2CD collection. Highly recommended.

The Icon 2 entry for Lynyrd Skynyrd is okay but features the same songs that were on Essential Lynyrd Skynyrd which were the same songs featured on Lynyrd Skynyrd Gold, etc. The sound quality was essentially that of the original recordings, no remixing or remastering. If you are a newcomer to the band, this is a good priced introduction but anyone who purchased any of the myriad other Lynyrd Skynyrd collections can pass this one up.

Here we have yet another Lynyrd Skynyrd budget collection courtesy of Universal Records. Remember the Millennium Collections from 2000 that Universal released? Well this is pretty much the same except now it has two more tracks and it's called Icon. This single disc collection is fine for those who want a taste of what Lynyrd Skynyrd were all about but for the completist you'll want the two disc set called "Lynyrd Skynyrd Icon 2" which is a far better deal in the long run.
