If you blew in last night from the Crab Nebula and just discovered Slick Rick, this is an adequate introduction...but for the rest of us, everything single thing on this CD can be found elsewhere, so what's the point? This time and energy would have been much better spent re-releasing the classic "Bustin' Out Of L-Seven"...

Rick James was truly the truth musically and he is missed. he had his own musical gumbo and he seasoned it properly and during his prime and peak the man brought the goods as a songwriter,producer,arranger,bandleader,musician and knew concept.
his songs were direct and yet had a complex feel to them. he was something else and he brought the funk and made it accessible for all. |
