5.0 out of 5 stars One Rockin band. Icon Rules and so do the 80's!Great Metal!
Icon's first 1984 release is one of giant purportions. Every single song is strong and filled with energy. This album has roaring guitar rifs and great vocals. It's pure and simple metal fun.
1.Rock On through the night(10/10)One of the best metal anthems ever made.Raise your fist and yell!Rock On!
2.Killer Machine(10/10)Another great track, more excellent...

3.0 out of 5 stars INCOMPLETE
THIS CD HAS SOME GOOD MOMENTS IN IT BUT IT'S INCOMPLETE. IT GETS BORING AT TIMES AND THE MUSIC IS NOT AS TIGHT AS THEIR OTHER CD'S. NIGHT OF THE CRIME MAKES THIS CD LOOK LIKE A PRACTICE SESSION. JUST AVERAGE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Obscure 80's band that should have had MUCH more airplay, February 10, 2006

I first "heard" this band when MTV actually played a video for "On Your Feet". I thought they kind of looked like clowns, but something about the vocals and the guitar work caught my ear, so I went and bought the Album (yes, vinyl). I was wrong, man was I ever wrong. Every member of this band was about as good as it gets as far as talent is concerned. And together they made a very mighty band, on recordings and live!

Sure some of their lyrics were a little cheesy, but anyone who doesn't at least tap your foot or drum your leg or Bang Your HEAD! at the opening of "Under My Gun", sorry but you're just not hearing what I'm hearing. I still listen to this CD/Album to this day,and "Under My Gun" is in my alarm clock and wakes me up every day. Some people like to wake up to birds chirping or something like that. Uh-uh, give me thundering drums any day. If you can afford it, buy this, NOW! Peace!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Heavy!!!, July 21, 2005

Very heavy with melody and emotion with some awesome guitar work. These guys really put alot of feel, atmosphere and emotion on this one and is one of my favorite albums of all time.

Luckily, I have this one and their other two albums on vinyl. Too bad these guys from Arizona, USA never got a wider recognition because they were killer and much better than some of the so called other glam rockers such POISON, WARRANT, CINDERELLA, RATT, MOTLEY CRUE, WINGER and I will stop with the carnage right there even though I can probably go on with the axe.

If you are a fan of power-rock/metallic glam rock, this should be in your collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Band That Should Have Gotten More Recognition!, November 8, 2004
This review is from: Icon (Audio CD)
I finally got this album on cd in Tokyo for about half the price offered here. One of the few benefits of living in a country where hard rock still sells steadily. I can remember seeing the video for On Your Feet on MTV or some video show. I knew I had to check them out. This album is not as slick and well produced as their second album but it rocks from start to finish. On Your Feet and R&R Maniac are two metal classics with great metal riffs! Other greats are Rock On Through The Night, Killer Machine, World War ("You'll never take me alive!"), and I'm Alive (cool simple riff). These guys were better than most of the hair bands that came along in the late 80s. The production could have been a little better so I give it 4.5 stars. Get it, Crank it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Metal CD, November 1, 2002
This review is from: Icon (Audio CD)
I don't understand how these guys didn't get huge in the early eighties! Most bands who didn't get big back then just weren't good enough to get big but these guys were a real exception. They were a great band, great musicians and they had an original look. What a shame.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Heavy Metal!, October 27, 2007
This review is from: Icon (Audio CD)
Icon was one of the greatest metal bands of the 80's & early 90's bar none! I bought this release when it orignally came out. I was so glad when this came available on CD years ago. This has the ultimate chainsaw guitars and smoking melodies! If you want heavy headbanging pump you up and make you wantta move metal this is it. This is without a doubt one of my favorite releases and anyone I have ever played these guys to were always blown away by their talent. Buy this, you will not be disappointed! I seen them twice and they totally rocked! Dan Wexler is an amazing guitar player song writer. Rock N Roll Maniac is one of the best anthem tunes you will ever hear. It's just a shame they never got the respect they deserved and I still can't figure why they never got enough backing because everyone loved them who heard them. I pray they re-unite!

5.0 out of 5 stars A metal classic... without extra tracks., May 27, 2007
By
This review is from: Icon (Audio CD)
Don't be fooled by the Extra Tracks tag, this is the same as the original vinyl and previous CD versions. 2 tracks were remixed for the 2nd release but they are not included, not to mention unreleased studio tracks On Fire, Show No Mercy, Reckless to mention a few.
Still, this album is a metal classic. Unlike following releases, this is Icon in full Priest/Scorpions/Dokken mode, heavier, crunchier but still melodic. They should have been huge.

5.0 out of 5 stars ICON, April 21, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Icon (Audio CD)
This was the best ICON album released. ICON was a little known band that didn't get desearved recognition. It came out at a time when cookie cutter bands like Poison, Cinderella, etc. had the commercial radio stations jamming their music down your throat. They were and are good bands, but corporate radio determind the success of bands along with MTV. ICON has a heavy sound and amazing ballads. This is not a Glam Band, they were the real deal and desearve a listen to. If you want some great Metal from a band that most people have not heard of then this is the album for you. I loved it when it came out and I love it now. As a radio DJ on my own Metal show, I play ICON for my listeners to help educate them more in the best unkown Metal of the 80's.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like 80's metal, you'll love this!!, January 17, 2007
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Icon (Audio CD)
This is a killer debut album from this Arizona metal band. You won't find any bad songs on here.Every song is sure to please. These guys should have gotten more recognition. It's too bad they had to compete with Ratt,Motley Crue,Twisted Sister and others at that time(1984).This album has a heavy Quiet Riot sound to it.This album is virtually perfect.Despite the release of two other albums,Icon would never reach this level again.Sure wish these guys would do a reunion tour. This album reminds me of the good ol' days.In the 80's,we didn't just rock,we rocked HARD.For great rock and roll, there will never be a decade like the 80's!Do yourself a favor and get this album, you won't be disappointed!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Should have been the beginning of something BIG, August 10, 2006
This review is from: Icon (Audio CD)
I don't have to sit here and tell you how good these guys were, just check them out for yourself. This cd picks you up from the onset, rams you into the wall, and never lets up.Anything you get from Icon is straight ahead Rock'n'Roll without compromise.Pick this up,as well as Night of The Crime,Right Between the Eyes, and if you can find and afford it,An Even More Pefect Union.Stay away from Live Bootleg 1984 unless you just want to add it to your collection.Anyone interested in any Icon cd's can drop me a line at scpickett@sbcglobal.net
