Book Description

May 8, 2001
Icons of Graphic Design presents a unique history of design documenting a century of creative brilliance - a showcase that illustrates how the best ideas perpetuate themselves over time, one great concept inspiring the next. Organized chronologically, examples are grouped in themes and include works from both famous and anonymous graphic artists throughout the century - from Toulouse Lautrec through Milton Glaser to Neville Brody and Art Chantry - that visually juxtapose each example to related designs from the past and future. Authors Steven Heller and Mirko Ilic illuminate their selections with revealing commentary on the graphic styles, devices and influences working together to reach new heights of effectiveness and originality.

This is a really great book. It's informative, it's thorough, and if you enjoy graphic design, or even if you don't, it's interesting to read. It's especially good for class.

5.0 out of 5 stars great resource, March 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is an amazing resource. I am an art major at a one of the top ranked university programs in the country. I use this book so much. Its the type of thing that helps you understand the history and progression of certain images and how they were used before which is essential for being able to create something new.

It was slightly damaged on arival but only so much as a banged up corner.
